With my black Friday deal of Showtime coming to a close, I decided to squeeze in another show. I remember at the time thinking that American Rust was Showtime’s attempt at Mare of Easttown. It might have been, but it sure didn’t live up to it.

Fan Art Friday: Panic! at the Disco
It’s the end of an era, folks. The other day, remaining and sole (?) member of Panic! at the Disco, Brendon Urie, announced the band’s end as he chooses to focus on his family. I wasn’t too surprised that this once dominant four-piece finally puttered out. Sure, the pop masses still ate up anything he offered, but I tapped out a few albums ago. There were decent songs here and there, but nothing can match the brilliance that was their debut into the world, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. I remember hearing “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” at thirteen and just getting the coolest feeling. I immediately sought out the record, and luckily my parents didn’t investigate too far into it and bought it for me. I’ve seen them live at least four times over the course of my life and I just hope that if someday the band gets resurrected that we get the lineup of that era, but for now, I will reflect and be happy.

It’s seems like it’s been a hot minute since I’ve listened to a new album in full, but Maneskin’s latest is the first in the 2023 queue that’s piqued my interest. I was curious to see how Rush! was going to shake out. More English language or Italian songs? Guess you’ll have to read and find out!

I wish there would have been more time for movies this weekend, but I’ve got a week full of Sundance features coming up, so I suppose I’ll make up for it. While there were a couple new titles this weekend, I went for some re-watches, as well. I know, who has time for that?! Well, sometimes I make time.

I suppose it comes as no surprise that I’ve already read the next novel in Howard Michael Gould’s Charlie Waldo series. Below the Line offered up a similar mix of intricate crime in sunny LA as its predecessor.

Friends! I know it’s only January, but look out for this excellent black comedy drama series, Bad Sisters, on my “best of” list at the end of 2023. That’s how awesome this show was.

Seeing the trailer for Renfield last week was all the motivation I needed to draw the acting legend that is Nicolas Cage! But, since I know you’ve all seen National Treasure, then you must now see Pig and Mandy. For now though, enjoy this new drawing.

I feel like it’s been too long since I reviewed new music, but I haven’t really been in the mood to listen to new albums (new to me anyways) all the way through at the moment. Lucky for me, some great bands have released new songs and it’s definitely got me excited for their upcoming albums (and hopefully, tours!).
