Sundance Film Festival – Days 1 & 2

I suppose this is days one and two for me, when in actuality they are days 2 and 3. Whatever, those are just small details. The real story lies in the films I’ve been able to watch! Some have been very entertaining, while some just sort of pass the time. Luckily, none have outright disappointed me, and that’s a wonderful thing!

I May Destroy You – Limited Series Review

I’m glad I finally got the time to watch this insanely buzzed about show, I May Destroy You. It’s sure to be snatching up a bunch of awards in the coming months, and I love a little indie show with a lot of love. Truth be told, this wasn’t my favorite, but that’s probably got more to do with the fact that it wasn’t like a typical show that I watch. Nothing can deny the talent that lives within show’s creator Michaela Coel, and she took us all on a very personal and sometimes wild ride.

Book Review: The Talented Miss Farewell by Emily Gray Tedrowe

Truthfully, I was initially drawn to The Talented Miss Farewell because it reminded me so much of Patricia Highsmith’s novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley. And now that I’ve seen that film I would really like to read the novel. Sure, did I first think this was going to be a rip off of Highsmith’s work? Yes. But even after just reading the shortest blub, I knew this was going to take a really unique and niche take on the “con man.”

Book Review: Broken Things by Lauren Oliver

What can I say? I am on a Lauren Oliver kick ever since reading the excellence that was The Vanishing Girls! Yes, Panic didn’t quite live up to my expectations, but she’s redeemed herself with Broken Things! Another complex mystery that involves a five year old murder of a best friend. Lives have been ruined and a rag-tag group slaps themselves together to try and figure out who actually did it.

Concert Review: Avatar Age of Madness

Last night’s entry into Avatar’s Impossible Concert Experience was Age of Madness, and it was probably the most hardcore experience yet! I say that because the two records that were performed for this installment were from Hail the Apocalypse and Black Waltz. These are definitely two of their darker albums, and there is a lot more screaming involved than any of their other releases. This also makes sense as to why this was my sister’s favorite of the shows so far.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – Final Season

Sadly, earlier this year, Netflix announced that part four the dark supernatural show, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, would be its last. What a freaking bummer! I was a little nervous because they had filmed parts three and four simultaneously, so I wasn’t sure if it was going to get a good ending. No one likes a cliffhanger that will never get resolved! After finishing the eight episodes the other day, I was quite pleased with what went down. I’ll try to be a non-spoilery as possible going forward, so let’s go witches!
