Best and Worst Films of 2020

We already know that 2020 was the worst, but that doesn’t mean movies let me down! Well…at least not all of them. I watched 245 films this year and there were certainly some stinkers, but for the most part, 2020 delivered some very impressive indie films (my favorite), and I unearthed some older titles. That’s one thing this pandemic has been good for: making time for movies I’ve never had time for in the past. Let’s talk about my favorites, my least favorites, and some bonus runner-ups!

TV Recap: Mrs. Fletcher & The Flight Attendant Season 1

Since getting HBO Max, I’ve been trying to burn through series like it’s my job. I’m also trying to stay on the up and up with what’s popular right now, and especially if that something is a mystery series. But first I wanted to revisit an older miniseries that was quite popular itself when it first came out. Let’s see what I thought about Mrs. Fletcher and The Flight Attendant!

Book Review: The Cousins by Karen McManus

After reading Karen McManus’ prior novels, One of Us is Lying, Two Can Keep a Secret, and One of Us is Next, it seemed like a no-brainer that I’d be getting my hands on her latest release, The Cousins. Actually, my sister got her hands on it as soon as it released because McManus’ books are some of the few she’s devoured this year. And for good reason! They have all been twisty and irresistible to put down.

Holiday Movie Review

I would dub this a holiday movie review because most of what I watched was related to this time of year! Perhaps the only good Christmas movies I know got watched, but I’m warning you that the number is low. There are also some sad films in the mix, because everything happy probably always has a little bit of sadness, too.

The Queen’s Gambit Miniseries Review

Since The Queen’s Gambit came out a couple months ago, I have yet to see a bad or even somewhat disappointed review for it. Now I understand why! This was one of the strongest series I’ve ever watched and it was something I know next to nothing about: chess! This, coupled with Ted Lasso, proves that if a show is written and acted really well, then it doesn’t matter how seemingly boring your subject matter is. If you would have told me at the start of the year that the best fictionalized television I would watch was about soccer and chess I would have laughed in your face. They have proven me wrong.

Fan Art Friday: Arcade Fire

I think it’s no big reveal that I’ve been obsessing over Arcade Fire for most of quarantine. In honor of that of course I decided to draw the whole band for the first time in almost ten years! Their album Reflector has really been my jam this past month, so I’m glad I found this to draw! Again, can’t wait for new music and hopefully the chance to see them live soon.

The Undoing Miniseries Review

I’ve only recently been able to enjoy what HBO Max has to offer, but so far it has not been disappointing! Yes, I missed the initial run of this superstar miniseries, The Undoing, when it first premiered on HBO, but I’m really not that far off the rest of the world so kudos to me. The six episodes had me guessing, and that made for a very entertaining ride.
