Book Review: Final Girls by Riley Sager

The other day I finished up the thriller, Final Girls, written by Riley Sager, and the long and short of it was that I loved it! Just the title alone had me hooked. It immediately made me think of the 2015 movie Final Girl starring Abigail Breslin, although I knew they wouldn’t be the same. But still, cinematic quality title for sure.

The novel focuses on final girl, Quincy, who was the sole survivor of her friends at a massacre at a cabin several years back. Since then, on the surface it appears that Quincy is living the good life and is happy. That’s until she learns fellow final girl Lisa committed suicide. It just doesn’t make sense! Then to add some intensity, Samantha, the third and reclusive final girl shows up on Quincy’s doorstep. Add in a pesky journalist and suddenly Quincy’s perfect life is thrown upside down.

I don’t want to give any more of the plot away, but let’s just say there are some serious plot twists! It gave me serious Gone Girl and Scream vibes, so I couldn’t read this book fast enough. As soon as I returned it, I rented out Sager’s other novel, The Last Time I Lied. I’ll report back soon!
