Book Review: This Will Only Hurt a Little, Killing Eve: No Tomorrow

I’ve stopped being lazy and finally read something! November was a rough month considering I rented a book from the library and let it sit in my house for three weeks untouched. So I returned that and started over! Here we go.

I finally got off the wait list for Luke Jennings second novel, Killing Eve: No Tomorrow, whose events are straight off the heels of his novella, Codename Villanelle. The story still shifts between Eve trying to track down Villanelle, while Villanelle is busy killing other people. Eventually, Eve catches up to a point where Villanelle’s superior gives her no other option than to kill Eve. But there’s clearly an attraction, or at least an obsession there, for both women, so Villanelle and Eve are on the run by the end of the novel. That’s the only thing I’ll totally give away, but some other crazy happenings go down, and it’s highly entertaining. Now, I still haven’t watched the show, but based on what I’ve read about it, there seem to be some stark differences. I guess I’ll have to see.

Back in October, I got the opportunity to hear Busy Philipps speak nearby, so naturally, I bought a copy of her book to be signed. And now that I own that book, I figured it was probably a good idea to read it, so I did! What a life she has lived! Bu I’m sure the same could be said for most stars who grew up in the 90s, or even today I suppose. In her book, This Will Only Hurt a Little, Busy deals with drugs, mental illness, body shaming, and just being outright lonely. Lots of things plenty of people can relate to. Her life was never all rainbows and butterflies. I definitely walked away with a new found respect and general interest in her, so if you want to learn some cool things about that girl from Freaks and Geeks, give it a read!

I’m thinking I’ll get one more book finished before the new year, so keep your eyes peeled!
