In all honesty, this book, We the Animals caught my attention for two reasons. The first is that it was relatively short. The second was that a handful of years ago it got adapted into a critically acclaimed film starring Looking’s Raul Castillo. Since my time with that show, I’ve been seeking those actors out, so it’s no wonder this work came back into my orbit. Instead of just jumping straight into the film first, I decided I wanted to give the book a go.

Book Review: Bone Box by Faye Kellerman
Only after I’ve finished this hefty crime thriller did I find out it belongs to a series written by Faye Kellerman. In fact, Bone Box the 24th installment of the series. Fail. But, my mother was kind enough to pick it up for me, and not many parts of the book ended up being confusing, which was a relief. With that being said, let’s get into it!

Well, after coming off of the excellence that was Turtles All the Way Down, I’ve got to say that the collaborative effort on Will Grayson, Will Grayson was a bit of a letdown. Written in alternating chapters by authors John Green and David Levithan, they both write about the lives of two very different Will Graysons. At some point, their worlds converge and comingle a little bit and the results are interesting.

Well, this might be a first. I was under the impression that the 2018 movie, Midnight Sun, was based off of a book given the fact that I’ve seen this book around since I saw the movie. Sometimes that happens where I don’t realize a film or show is based off of a book until after the fact. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be picking up a book that is based off of a film?! Also, please let me know if I’m wrong, but from what I can tell, the film version of this story is actually based off of a 2006 Japanese film called A Song to the Sun. Crazy!

It’s been quite some time since I’ve sat down and read a John Green novel, but my curiosity finally won out and I borrowed Turtles All the Way Down from my aunt. When I first read a blurb about this book, it sounded intriguing but not necessarily something I was interested in reading at the time. I truthfully can’t tell you what’s changed in the four-ish years to suddenly make me want to read this, but I did, and I’m glad for it.

Now, based on the title of Rainbow Rowell’s latest book, Any Way the Wind Blows, one would think this is a song about Queen. Well, just like her prior two novels in this trilogy weren’t about Kansas, then this one is certainly not about that great rock band either. In fact, this book is about magic, and young adults dealing with all sorts of crap, so that’s almost an equally as fun time for me. To read, of course.

I told you it wouldn’t be long before I read another one of Julie Buxbaum’s books! When looking at other people talking about What to Say Next, an older book of Buxbaum’s, Tell Me Three Things, was mentioned often and in a glowing light. So I knew I had to check it out!

I mean with a title like The Last Thing He Told Me, Laura Dave basically guarantees that I was going to read this book! A mystery and a thriller all wrapped into one, this book focuses on a missing man, and really it has all the perfect points to adapt this to the big or small screen. Good for Dave.

This young adult novel turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise! I don’t usually go for recommended books, especially on my local digital library, but the brief description I read for What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum seemed intriguing enough. That means I decided to give it a go!

Just when I thought his books couldn’t get any better, Riley Sager goes ahead and publishes this wonder, Survive the Night! Of his five novels, this one cemented itself as my favorite within the first chapter! It’s a thriller, takes place in the year I was born, the lead character is headed back to her hometown which is dangerously close to where I’m from, and she’s obsessed with movies!
