Since the Emmys are right around the corner (one week!), I figured I could squeeze in this five-part miniseries, Halston, about fashion designer, Halston, who’s star Ewan McGregor is nominated for the role. I love seeing Ewan on TV, but unlike his time on Fargo, this series seemed to drag quite a bit, despite its short episode order.

This week a lot went wrong and some stuff went right in my weekly dramatic viewings.

Sandra Oh is one busy lady! Somewhere in the middle of a pandemic I imagine she had to get in the headspace for the final season of Killing Eve, but then went ahead and filmed this short but awesome comedy-drama, The Chair. Even more fascinating about this show is that it was created by actress Amanda Peet! I truthfully had no clue she wrote or anything like that outside of acting. Really cool find on Netflix if you ask me!

Admittedly, I’m not getting through Showtime’s catalog all that quickly given how little time I have left with the service, but still. At my dad’s recommendation, I decided to give the crime drama City on a Hill a chance. He and I usually have a similar taste in shows, and while he liked this series, he said it wasn’t great. Another week closer to everyone’s fall favorites, means another episode of my weekly summer dramas coming and going. I’m not really a binge-watcher by any means, but sometimes I want to watch a movie’s worth of television! Anyway, let’s get into it.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to a convention, and since the first one I ever attended was Steel City Con in December of 2019, it only makes sense that my first one back was Steel City Con again! As eager as I’ve been to get back to everything, it’s clear a lot of other people are, too. The convention center was packed and the mood was euphoric, and that made it a really fun day for me.

I don’t know why this show never stood out to me during the countless times I’ve viewed Milo Ventimiglia’s filmography, but here we are! Mob City might not be something that would usually catch my interest, but I can watch a noir about gangsters here and there. It might help that these are real gangsters and that the cast is out of this world! Anyways, let’s dive in to this short-lived series.

I know I was a little late in last week’s review of Animal Kingdom and Roswell, New Mexico, but this week I’m on it! Can’t say it will ever happen again, but you’ll just have to come back to find out. Anyways, lots of development this week, and of course…lots of drama!
