Concert Review: An Evening With Adam Lazzara

As the pandemic surges on, there are more and more livestream concert events popping up, and with a ton of my favorite artists jumping on board, so am I! Like I said before, I’ll take what I can get. And if that means watching Taking Back Sunday front man, Adam Lazzara tune his own guitar in between songs, then so be it!

In another unique take on the livestream concert, Adam Lazzara set out on his own and put on a show which aptly name, An Evening With Adam Lazzara. Based on this name I sort of thought it was going to go down a little bit like Hawthorne Heights’ set a week or so ago. Instead, not disappointingly so, it was a strictly acoustic set with very few breaks in between songs.

I also initially thought this was going to be more of him singing acoustic versions of Taking Back Sunday songs, and while he did unleash some incredible deep cuts from the band, most of the hour-long performance was focused on new and original material, along with a smattering of covers. This was a pleasant surprise, and again, something totally unique than what I’ve experienced with the other livestream shows I’ve “attended.”

Sure, not Taking Back Sunday, but Lazzara has an insanely gritty and mesmerizing voice that had me at attention from the first note. Perhaps in the near future the band can work something out and perform together, but I’ll gladly take this in the meantime.
