Concert Review: Foo Fighters Livestream

The Foos have been busy since performing on Saturday Night Live the weekend after the election! They debuted a new song, announced a new record, and decided to play a virtual show! Since I was supposed to see them back in May and then October, it was a no brainer to buy a ticket to this show.

Now, a typical Foo Fighters concert will last anywhere from two to three hours, at least if the three times I’ve seen them prior is anything to go by. So, right off the bat this performance was a little disappointing because it only went for an hour and a half, but that was about all that was disappointing about it! With all the hits this band has amassed over its career, it’s probably difficult to craft the perfect set, but they did an awesome job picking songs from their entire catalog. They even threw in the new single from upcoming release, Medicine at Midnight, “Shame, Shame, Shame.” I’m not crazy about it yet, but I have confidence.

My favorites that were played were “Everlong,” “My Hero,” and “Learn to Fly.” They did manage to pick a lot of other popular tracks, but they totally omitted “Rope!” That let me down a little bit, but I’ve heard it all the other times I’ve seen them play. Similar to some of the other livestream shows I’ve watched, this one took place at an actual music venue, The Roxy, is Los Angeles. I think that made it seem like a more typical concert-going experience.

The band sounded great and Dave’s vocals were spot-on. Plus, he was able to joke around, even if only a small crew were the only ones answering back. It was a solid Foo Fighters performance, but I also would have enjoyed a cover thrown in there somewhere. Otherwise, totally worth my time and money! I know they can’t wait to get back out on the road and see people and neither can I! Hopefully we get to do that soon.
