Concert Throwback: Haim

You know what, since I just listened to and reviewed Haim’s latest musical effort, I thought now would be a great time to reflect on the one and only time I’ve seen them live. It was in 2016 at the wonderful Bunbury Music Festival, so that means the weather was toasty and since it was a music festival that means the crowd was excited! And so was I!

Luckily for me, their only release at the time was Days Are Gone, so that meant that other than a couple singles from their upcoming sophomore album, the rest of the set was from their debut! Yay for me! My luck wasn’t as good as it was for Royal Blood, so no front row for me, but the biggest accomplishment was that I could see! As a short person, this is a big deal. Especially when you are competing with thousands of other festival-goers.

As far as the show went, they sounded marvelous and had little choreographed dance moves at times, plus Este is a huge hype-woman. She gets the crowd going and makes sure it never stops! Plus she’s got that excellent “bass face.” Seriously, if you don’t know what I’m talking about then you must look up a live performance of theirs. It will be well worth your time. Haim covered Prince in this set and played one of my favorite tracks, “Don’t Save Me,” so it was good day! I would love to see them again someday, so hopefully I get the chance!
