A concert of epic proportions! Also, I was supposed to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a third time back in May until the rona took away all the nice things! I digress, as I can look back at those other two times fondly and share what the experience was like.
I can confidently say that both times the sets were infectious. My first experience seeing them was at Rock on the Range music festival where the band was the Sunday night headliner. Naturally, that was the selling point for me attending this festival, but I have been going back ever since! While most of the acts are pretty much geared towards heavy metal lovers, this was a slight deviation to the norm, but they fit in nonetheless. I think it’s hard not to like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I think regardless of who you are, you at least know one of their songs.
Aside from the Rock on the Range experience in 2015, my sister and I went to see them in 2017 during their “The Getaway Tour.” My sister was somewhat obsessed with the record (all of their records, really), so getting tickets to this stadium tour was a no-brainer. We managed to get some pretty decent seats and caught a set that included the likes of “Can’t Stop,” “Aeroplane,” and “Go Robot.” It was a blast! If you’ve ever seen any of their live performances online you can count on three things always happening: Anthony Kiedis being shirtless, Flea losing his mind on bass, and the longest jam sessions ever.
Just thinking back to those two experiences has me really sad I didn’t get the chance to see them again this year. The Getaway was their last release, but John Frusciante is back with the band and I just know new tunes are on the way! It has to be! That would have been my first time seeing the band reunited with John, but now I guess I’ll just have to wait even longer. Until next time!
