Man oh man, the level of quality this show has maintained over the long course of three seasons is on par with some of the best shows out there. If you haven’t watched the masterpiece that is Dave, then what the heck are you waiting for?!
This season is all about Dave looking for love…on tour. That’s the whole theme, with it plastered on their big pink tour bus and with the documentary Dave has asked Emma to film constantly. He does manage to find it, but his eccentric and almost too high standards, has him doubting himself and ultimately ruining a good thing. You have to wonder how that mindset hasn’t managed to derail his career yet. Anyways, I loved getting to see the whole posse on tour, even though they ended it short. Dave gets himself into some sticky situations on tour, and ultimately, he feels overwhelmed from what he thought the experience was going to be.
More revelations come from Gata this year, still my absolute favorite character on the show, though not quite as center stage as seasons past. You just hope that Emma and Elz will realize they are made for each other, but I contently settled for Mike finding love in the strangest way instead. Even Ally is struggling to keep love in her corner. She’s slightly underutilized this season, but I’m interested to see where she’ll end up in (hopefully) future seasons. While this is a TV show, there is still new music involved, so all of you real life Lil Dicky friends will at least be getting a show soundtrack out of all of your patience.
All the episodes were fantastic, but there were a few that were more memorable for me. One involves Dave, Gata, and Rick Ross’ VERY expensive chain. They get robbed and negotiate to drop a verse to get the chain back before Ross ends their lives. The collaboration that ensues is both hilarious and kind of heartwarming. Another standout episode is what I would compare to Atlanta’s “Teddy Perkins” episode, but this sees all of our tour members stranded at a fan’s very conservative family’s house for an evening while they wait out a hurricane. It’s dark, spooky, and downright hilarious in many scenes. People are strange, y’all. As expected, the finale is quite memorable, but totally different than the last two seasons. It’s another taut episodes that manages to find the funny more than you’d expect.
And if all of that isn’t enough to sell you, somehow the guest stars acquired for this season are even more impressive than the other two! We’re talking top-tier guests. Who knew Brad Pitt had such good taste in comedies (he’s a Letterkenny fan, too!)! Please, for the love of all things, go watch this show now!
