Ahhh! How freaking fun was this?! I know you all probably saw my recent review of the show Enlisted, and that was in fact in preparation for this very reunion. It’s been about seven years since the show went off the air, but in an effort to raise money for Harvest for Hunger, the entire cast for the episode “Prank War” reunited to do a table read.
It was as fun as it sounds! I don’t know about the rest of you, but something that gave me great pleasure over quarantine was watching casts reunite after five, ten, or even twenty years to either do a table read or just an in-depth interview (here’s looking at you Scott Pilgrim, Teen Wolf, and Hannibal!). I loved that everyone was on board to raise money for such an important cause during this pandemic, too.
Anyway, the cast got together to read through a fan favorite episode, “Prank War.” I myself laughed very, very hard when Derrick realized what his fake mustache was fashioned from (Randy’s “pubis”). The read-through went off pretty much without a hitch, although there were some technical difficulties at the beginning. Something I wasn’t too crazy about was having people turn their cameras off and on depending on whether they were in a scene or not. It was slightly distracting and lots of the cast kept forgetting to turn theirs off. Also, poor Geoff Stults just couldn’t figure out his camera or how to find his script at the beginning. However, I did love the razzing he received for it. Something else that made me smile throughout, or even laugh harder, was watching other castmates laughing at each other’s lines. I know it’s been some time, but I can’t imagine how filming went at the time if they were all laughing this much!
After the table read, a moderator sort of reigned them all in and asked a series of questions. Some of which were fan questions – mine included! I was a little bummed I didn’t get to personally ask it, but I’ll take what I can get. After watching the series I saw that before they even started filming they all participated in a boot camp down in Fort Worth, Texas. I was curious to know if any of them would fair as well now considering a good chunk of time has passed. Angelique and Parker were still down, but Chris said him and Geoff probably wouldn’t even get on the plane. I’d be inclined to agree with Chris and Geoff! Of course, other questions centered around memorable moments on set, how their characters would handle quarantine (not well), and what subsequent seasons would have looked like. I love the what-ifs, and who knows, maybe in this world of reboots Enlisted could get a second season someday.
If anyone is interested in checking out the reunion in a non-live capacity through 3/10, you can still make a donation and check it out here!
