Fall Concert Review: Angels & Airwaves

After a short break, the concerts are picking back up! Last night I got to see Angels and Airwaves at the House of Blues in Cleveland! It was quite a show filled with a good deal of talent – opening bands included!

Speaking of opening bands, the evening started off with a band based out of California and England, called Charming Liars. The lead vocalist looked a lot like Hozier from where I was standing, but he had some pretty solid vocals and the band had some pretty catchy songs. Next up was Angels and Airwaves’ drummer’s side project, New Regime. Having never heard them before, I dug it! Like a lot! I’ll definitely be purchasing some of their music. Charming Liars gave off more of a rock vibe, while New Regime got in more electronics. Both were a nice choices given that’s what Angels and Airwaves so expertly blends together.

Angels and Airwaves took the stage to some pretty intense die hard fans that were belting out lyrics one song after another. An epic opening number, “Surrender,” paved the way to a pretty eclectic set list from the band, including older hits like “The Adventure” and “Everything’s Magic” along with new singles “Rebel Girl” and “Kiss and Tell.” As if the roars of approval couldn’t get any louder, Tom also threw in an acoustic medley of some classic Blink-182 songs (this set in particular included “Wishing Well,” “First Date,” “I Miss You,” and ” Aliens Exist” – obviously).

All the bands sounded great, and if they’ve got a date coming your way – hit it up! Be nostalgic.
