Letterkenny Seasons 5 & 6

It feels like I just wrote about two seasons of Letterkenny, but what can I say? This show is wonderous.

Season five quickly cleared up a cliffhanger, which means Wayne did not cheat on Rosie with Tanis, but they did end up trying to date after Rosie moved to the city. Not much ended up happening with Wayne and Tanis in the end, but I always really enjoy their interactions. Tied up at the top with the Talent Show episode is the first episode of the fifth season where the hicks, skids, and hockey players all attend a wedding. Their motto is they don’t fight at weddings, but when some “cidiots” take it too far, they get creative. I also credit that episode to finding a banging new song! Speaking of, whoever picks the music for this series is doing a top-notch job of it. The rest of the season is sort of all over the place, but the most enjoyably random episode belongs to the Letterkenny Adult Spelling Bee. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds.

That season ends on a bit of a cliffhanger where they attend a pre-wedding party, which ends up ending an engagement and maybe finds Wayne and Daryl some love interests. Luckily, season six gets right into it, and in fact, both do end up getting sweeties. Wayne has potentially met his perfect match in Marie-Fred, while Daryl is clearly dating out of his league in Anik. Either way, I loved the conversations the two were having about how much action they were getting (“just between us girls?”). The skids end up getting sober and try helping out women at city clubs, but they need rescuing from the hicks in the end. Now, the show has always been raunchy, but I felt the last three episodes took it to a whole other level. Even more hilarious in my humble opinion. Anyway, by seasons end, it appears Wayne is ready to propose and poor Daryl gets dumped. Of course, it was a cliffhanger, so I’ll let you know in a few days, likely.

As I have said in my prior two reviews, the holiday specials are some of my favorites. Sadly, I’ve seen the last two specials, but I hope they revive them someday – there’s plenty of holidays left! Everyone gets to celebrate Christmas and Valentine’s Day (or as Dary would say, “Valentimes”). Christmas is the one holiday that Wayne can get down with and he’s trying to make sure he’s throwing the best party in Letterkenny. He’s got gifts for everyone and the rest are making sure they prepare themselves for the Three Wisemans shots at midnight. On Valentine’s Day, most of the regulars attend a speed dating event which really just ends up leading to one threesome. The rest of the interactions were hilarious conversations. Wayne and Stewart agree that Valentine’s Day is a trash holiday so they bond over hockey…for a little bit. Both episodes were joyfully hysterical.

I am loving this show so far, and I’m getting a little sad I’ve only got four seasons left. Luckily, I know there’s more to come in the future – and a spin-off show! And I get to see them all live later in April. I will certainly report back on that. Pitter-patter!
