Yes, Little is the title of the movie I saw this weekend, but this review will also be just that, little (or short, rather). If you’ve ever seen Tom Hanks in the film, Big, then just reverse that line of thinking and you have the general premise of Little.
This story focuses on mean boss-lady, Jordan (Regina Hall), who messed with the wrong little kid. Jordan wakes up in her 13-year-old self’s body (Marsai Martin)! She is forced to go back to her old middle school, while her assistant, April (Issa Rae), tries to take the reigns at the company. Jordan finally learns some lessons about how she became so vile and makes some real changes to herself to turn back. It’s a happy ending, and I’m glad for that!
The trailer to this film did have a lot of the funny parts, but it definitely wasn’t short on laughs throughout. I do think this film would have benefited from some R-rated humor, but it was good enough as is. I feel like Justin Hartley as Jordan’s teacher was under-utilized, but at least we got a few minutes of eye candy. Not a bad job at all for a film who’s concept came from the mind of 14 year old star and EP, Marsai Martin!
