Netflix Movie Review: Point Blank

As a major fan of the show Kingdom (watch it!), I obviously have to keep tabs on star, Frank Grillo (also of Captain America and The Purge fame), so when I heard that he’d be starring in the remake of the French film, Point Blank, I knew I had to watch.

This film, also starring Marvel alum and next Cap, Anthony Mackie, centers on Grillo’s character, Abe, an assassin who’s on the run from a corrupt cop (played by Marcia Gay Harden). Mackie plays Paul, a likable RN in a Cincinnati hospital, who gets roped into the chaos when Abe’s brother kidnaps his pregnant wife. There’s plenty of action, most notably, a beat down in a car wash, and one-liners galore delivered with all the sass these two can possess, but the film as a whole isn’t too deep and ultimately forgettable. The only other standouts was the world’s weirdest soundtrack and gangster, Big D.

If you love either of these gentlemen, then by all means, watch this middle of the road action flick, because they are all over the screen! If you want something a little more exciting, then I suppose you should head to theaters and see the latest Fast and the Furious spin-off.
