New Music – Singles Edition!

As I’ve been saying, this year has been too good to me with all of this new music! Here’s what’s been out blessing my ears lately.

Don Broco
“Hype Man” – I have no clue when the new Don Broco album is coming, but it sure as hell better be soon! And I better be seeing them a boatload of times live next year. I’ve already got a show on deck in January, so there’s plenty more of 2026 to go around. Reminds me of a cool 90s action movie to start with. Maybe a little bit of early days Linkin Park meets Korn. I absolutely love Matt’s spoken bit in the second verse. It’s unclear how much he’ll be utilized in the rest of the highly likely upcoming album, but so far I like what they’re doing! They are both pretty good at playing around with vocal delivery, and so far it seems like they’re really testing out everything they can do! And like several Don Broco songs, they do keep it a little silly, even with all the heavy.

Foxy Shazam ft. Corey Feldman
“You Know My Name” – Foxy Shazam are on a roll! After finishing up their lengthy North American tour just a couple of months ago, they then entered the orbit of James Gunn, having made a cameo in the new Superman film, and then were tapped as the season two theme song of Peacemaker! Now they’ve got a new single out with a new album on the horizon, Box of Magic, due out in less than a month! I hope this means I get to see more of them next year, too. As far as Foxy Shazam songs go, this one is pretty low-key, but it still makes you want to dance around a little bit. Corey Feldman surprisingly fits seamlessly into this song, and he looked like he was having a really fun time in the music video! The video is silly, which is one hundred percent what I expect from the band, so they delivered. I’m definitely excited to hear what the rest of the album will sound like!

Avatar
“Tonight We Must Be Warriors” – Though Avatar seem to always be busy it felt like there has been a decent gap in between new music from them. In that vain, we finally get a taste of some new music, with a new record and tour coming later this fall. I, for one, cannot wait! For me, this one does capture that Avatar style, but does present something new. It calls back a little to Avatar Country times, but then also makes reference to the “Eagle.” I have no clue if they are trying to connect things to paint a bigger picture, but I’m here for whatever they are doing. And I think in rather fitting fashion, the new album drops on Halloween. We can be so lucky sometimes.

White Reaper
“Blue 42 – For me, this is unlike anything White Reaper has ever released. It has a very early 2000s vibe to it. But even the guitar solo is unlike anything they’ve released before! Similar to the first single they dropped, this one also really shines a light on the keys. Heck, on Ryan in general! It’s for sure his rambling towards the beginning of the track. But it fits so well with this throwback style. Yes, most of the members were alive in the 90s, but just barely. It’s cool to see them pay homage to that time’s style. I’d say they are three for three so far on this album, so I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of it to drop at the end of the month. It’s making me more and more squirrely to see them on this tour even though it might almost be impossible. Stay tuned.
