Oh, the Drama!

That’s right, I’m through my weekly primetime dramas, so it’s time to recap all that went down!

First up on 911 Lone Star, the episode starts off with a flash forward of a bunch of cops getting ready to take down a dangerous criminal, which turns out to be Owen! Before it can be fully determined how Owen got to that place we go back in time to learn that he did go through with the last of his cancer surgery and it was a success. However, doctor’s orders have him recuperating for four long weeks, and that means Owen’s got too much time to kill. He keeps himself busy with little task at first, and then he starts listening to a local dispatch app thanks to Billy. That’s right, arch rival and then reluctant pal, Billy. I can’t help but think his presence is foreshadowing something hinky, but time will tell. He happens to use the app to help out at a nearby fire, which he suspects is the work of an arsonist. More to come on that. Since Owen is out of commission, Judd is acting captain, and unfortunately his first call out results in a tragic death. While I definitely feel for the widow, she’s somewhat unfairly taking it out on Marjan, who she claims is more concerned about followers than saving people. Obviously this is not true, and thank goodness for Paul reminding her of that. T.K. and Carlos have some wonderful off duty moments with the rest of the team, and then they are getting ready to welcome their parents to dinner when Owen makes a little detour to check out the suspected arson site. He finds the proof he needs but is knocked unconscious right as the episode ends. Next week promises to be juicy if the promo and the show’s stars’ social media accounts have anything to say about it!

On Prodigal Son, Martin has successfully escaped, and Malcolm is spiraling. He clearly wants to help, but he’s aggressive and reckless. On the way to finding Martin, Malcolm instead runs into his accomplices, and puts himself in danger. Although, it’s really no more danger than he usually finds himself in, I feel. Anyway, Jessica is under JT’s protection, and the two connect on how they’ve reacted to the stressful situations in their lives. Jessica, with being the former wife of a serial killer, and JT, with the fallout from just talking about filing against the cop who almost choked him out at the beginning of the season. In a surprise twist, they find a phone that Martin’s used, and it’s got one number in it. When they call it, guess who picks up? Ainsley! This is just too good! She also looks hella guilty while she’s being interrogated, not to mention that we get flashbacks of her visiting with Martin where she doesn’t put up much of a fight when he spells out the qualities they share by way of psychopathy. I wish so much that they would explore this further! Also, Malcolm’s not totally innocent here either. When they get to an apple orchard where Malcolm is positive Martin will end up, if he’s not already there, Malcolm breaks a bunch of protocols and runs to the house when he hears gunfire. Malcolm can deny his hate for his father all he wants, but Malcolm is still a son, and evidently, still sympathetic. In the final twist of the night, we see Capshaw leave the penitentiary with her belongings when we hear a knock coming from the trunk of her car! Based on the fact that Martin wasn’t at the orchard and one of his accomplices confirmed he never got in the van with them, I’m willing to bet he’s in the trunk! Only two episodes left this season, and I’m still hoping for more Ainsley.

Finally, on Big Sky, lots of revealing is happening this episode! As most of us could probably have predicted, Rand was the one who barreled through Jenny’s motel room, but unlucky for Rand, she survived. Sheriff Wagy goes to Horst and tells him what’s happened and that he can’t protect the family anymore from people searching the farm for illegal fracking chemicals they’ve got stored. Cheyenne reveals to her mother that John Wayne was the one who killed Blake, and she’s just about had it with her abusive husband and sons. She makes some threats, but I can’t picture her coming out victorious in all of this. I think even though she has suffered, this whole family of degenerates deserves to go down in the end. Finally, the episode cuts us off in a split screen of sorts, with the first being Cassie and Jenny with old farmhand, Gil showing them the toxic waste barrels complete with some skulls! The other half of the episode centers on Mark and Jerrie closing in on Ronald! The body in the freezer in obviously Scarlett’s ex, but what’s less obvious is who killed him…with an ice pick apparently! They put the pieces together that the missing sister is related to Scarlett, so the walls are closing in a little bit on Ronald. No fear, he decides to take Scarlett and her daughter midnight “camping” in a brand new truck! Nothing seems weird about that at all. They agree, and all the way to a secluded, no cell service woods, Scarlett’s sister’s body is just seeping blood beneath them. That means in the middle of the night Ronald goes to bury her when Scarlett’s daughter shows up. Can’t be good news for her! Unless Scarlett is also a secret psychopath. Only two episodes left, so with this show literally anything could happen.
