Roommates of Poongduck 304

Roommates of Poongduck 304 is a KBL that has been on my watch list for quite some time. The algorithms must have caught wind of this because I’d seen several fan made edits from the show and apparently that was the only push I needed to tune in!

The series follows two completely different characters who happen to cross paths. Jae Yun is the newest employee at a large company in their marketing department. He also owns a villa, but in order to pay off his loan sooner, is in search of a roommate to split the rent. Ho Jun is a reckless rich kid who’s finally pushed past his father’s limits. He’s kicked out of the house and told to survive for the next two years on the measly paycheck he’s going to get as a marketing supervisor at his father’s company.

It seems water pressure is what brings these two opposites together, but their relationship is fraught with misunderstandings from the start. Even though Ho Jun would rather stay anywhere else, his father’s punishment leaves him stuck. Jae Yun would also like to see him leave for good, but his plan to refund him and kick him out is thwarted when Ho Jun turns up at work as his new supervisor. Ho Jun is obviously pleased and makes Jae Yun’s work life a nightmare for a bit. That is, until Jae Yun starts becoming a ruthless landlord. The two eventually reach a truce and get closer as they connect on work projects.

You can tell there is something there, but Jae Yun is ashamed of his attraction to men, even though he’s harboring a major crush on his old friend. Too bad his old friend is a user! Ho Jun sees this easily and though he tries to stay out of Jae Yun’s personal business, he eventually relents and steps in. It’s not instant sparks between these two, but rather a slow and then intense like. It all goes well for about one episode before Jae Yun learns that Ho Jun is the company director’s son. He’s crushed that Ho Jun would keep something like this from him, but he also doesn’t know what it means for their future.

Fear not! This is a KBL, and almost all of the ones I’ve seen have a pretty happy ending. Given that these two actors have worked together before, the chemistry was there. I also don’t know if I’ve laughed as hard as I did watching a drunk scene they did together late in the series. Physical comedy gold from the two of them! I was even more intrigued to learn that another K-Pop idol was one of the leads. I hope the K-Pop groups continue to surprise me! Definitely worth tuning into.
