I feel like a broken record at this point, but Roswell, New Mexico keeps delivering the goods each week! So that means it can’t be helped that I continuously point it out. This week we see the fruits of our scientists labors, as well as some much deserved flashbacks into the tumultuous upbringing of Michael Guerin.
Everyone quickly learns that Max has subconsciously created a surge that destroyed his pod, and therefore he’s going to die very soon. Liz and Isobel are freaking out and push for the surgery to happen that night. Kyle, the ever loyal ex, is at the ready per Liz’s request, so now it’s just convincing Michael to show up, and Max (through Isobel’s mind control) to let it happen.
Isobel infiltrates Rosa’s dreams to get to Max, but she finds him in a dark and stormy landscape. He pleads with her to not let this happen. He won’t be the same person that left them. When he brought Rosa back, he absorbed all this dark energy that comes with ten years lost. Isobel obviously lies and tells Max she respects his wishes, so Max pleads with Rosa before she wakes up.
After a series of Michael related flashbacks (a new Malex moment for the fans), where it shows that Max was always there for Michael – ALWAYS. He finally concedes and build an alien heart pacemaker and makes it to the operating room just in time. So does Rosa. As Max flat lines, Liz is totally destroyed, so Rosa tells Kyle to try again. It is then that we learn that Rosa has some powers of her own. Interesting.
For a short time we see Max in a coma, but when he wakes, there is only Isobel in a desolate place. She tells Max that if he does have murderous intentions like he claims he would, she’s there to stop him. Looks like we’ll get quite a showdown next week.
Maria was also back this week and decided to forgive Alex for lying since she technically stole his ex-boyfriend. What a strange friendship they have. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of Maria since she now knows what’s going on in everyone’s life, and she’s still trying to figure out more about her mother’s abduction. Speaking of abductions, hopefully we see Jenna again next week? Last I remember she was about to get beamed up herself. I also imagine that everyone will be battling “dark Max” for the rest of the season. Either way, I can’t wait!
