Weekend Movie Review

It was a pretty average viewing this weekend, but fear not! It’s the calm before the holiday weekend storm, so I more than plan to make up for it in my next recap. Anyways, here’s a high level look at what I managed to watch this weekend.

One of Us is Lying – Series Review

Having just read Karen McManus’ book last year, this series adaptation of One of Us is Lying came as a bit of a surprise! Really, I only knew about it roughly a month beforehand and that was only because my issue of Entertainment Weekly told me about it! But anyways, I was really interested to see how this story adapted to the screen, and luckily, it didn’t disappoint.

Manic Movie Review

Truth be told, I didn’t watch any movies last week because I was busy being in the background of one! That’s all I can say for now, but as soon as I can share more I will. In order to make up for that oversight, I’ve stuffed as many movies as I possibly could into this last full week of October. Some spooky stuff, some not, but all pretty darn good!

Book Review: We the Animals by Justin Torres

In all honesty, this book, We the Animals caught my attention for two reasons. The first is that it was relatively short. Since my time with that show, I’ve been seeking those actors out, so it’s no wonder this work came back into my orbit. Instead of just jumping straight into the film first, I decided I wanted to give the book a go.

Nine Perfect Strangers Miniseries Review

Well, well, well. Liane Moriarty made the right friend in Nicole Kidman. I say that because she’s chosen another one of Moriarty’s novels to adapt to the screen. And I don’t know how well your memory serves you, but it worked out really well with Big Little Lies. I’m a little surprised that Moriarty’s most recent novel, Nine Perfect Strangers got selected to be adapted so quickly. As an author I’d want the material to sit with readers a little longer. In any case, I was looking forward to this mystery/drama.

Mid-Week Double Feature

Since I was otherwise engaged last weekend, that means I had no time for movies! That seriously might not have happened in at least five years. While it distressed me a little, since there were some great new releases making their way to theaters, I knew I’d get a chance to squeeze some in before another busy weekend. That means last night, I made room for back-to-back viewings!
