Book Review: We the Animals by Justin Torres

In all honesty, this book, We the Animals caught my attention for two reasons. The first is that it was relatively short. The second was that a handful of years ago it got adapted into a critically acclaimed film starring Looking’s Raul Castillo. Since my time with that show, I’ve been seeking those actors out, so it’s no wonder this work came back into my orbit. Instead of just jumping straight into the film first, I decided I wanted to give the book a go.

Nine Perfect Strangers Miniseries Review

Well, well, well. Liane Moriarty made the right friend in Nicole Kidman. I say that because she’s chosen another one of Moriarty’s novels to adapt to the screen. And I don’t know how well your memory serves you, but it worked out really well with Big Little Lies. I’m a little surprised that Moriarty’s most recent novel, Nine Perfect Strangers got selected to be adapted so quickly. As an author I’d want the material to sit with readers a little longer. In any case, I was looking forward to this mystery/drama.

Mid-Week Double Feature

Since I was otherwise engaged last weekend, that means I had no time for movies! That seriously might not have happened in at least five years. Book Review: Midnight Sun by Trish Cook

Well, this might be a first. I was under the impression that the 2018 movie, Midnight Sun, was based off of a book given the fact that I’ve seen this book around since I saw the movie. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be picking up a book that is based off of a film?! Also, please let me know if I’m wrong, but from what I can tell, the film version of this story is actually based off of a 2006 Japanese film called A Song to the Sun. Crazy!

Summer of Dramatic Television

Just because it’s summertime doesn’t mean there’s nothing on TV! It probably also helps that the pandemic severely delayed some shows. For instance, I get new Animal Kingdom and Roswell, New Mexico because of it! Not that I’m all that happy that things got delayed, but I’m glad everyone stayed safe, employed, and managed to produce some good television at the end of it all. Let’s get into it then, shall we?

Fan Art Friday: Animal Kingdom

New season, old drawings. But you heard me right! Animal Kingdom is back after about a year and a half (thanks for nothing, pandemic), and I couldn’t be more excited! In honor of its return, here are drawings of my two favorite characters, and power couple, Deran and Adrian. I can only hope Adrian comes back after that gut-wrenching break up at the end of the fourth season. That ship isn’t done sailing yet!
