All hail to the emo band from my youth! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen The Used over the years, but several of their records remain my favorites to this day. With that being said, a lot of their newer material hadn’t really made it into my radar until their latest, Toxic Positivity, was announced.

Foxy Shazam – Dark Blue Night, Album Review
Somehow, Foxy Shazam released a whole new album at the end of March and I didn’t even know about it! That makes me feel like a bad fan. But, I found it now, and I can tell you that Dark Blue Night is a treat.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of seeing Joywave be a very solid opener for Bastille and Twenty One Pilots in the past, but never headlining their own shows. I credit Sirius XM’s Alt Nation for turning me onto these guys. While I have no doubt I would have found out about them eventually, they just got the ball rolling a little faster.

Thank goodness for new music! There’s some really eclectic stuff in this bunch of new songs and I think they are all worthy of your time.

Truth be told, in the past I had never been a die-hard Paramore fan and never really appreciated any album they released in full. Still, the big handful of songs I do like, I like a lot. Similarly, the bands’ latest release, This is Why, follows in their previous discography’s footsteps. However, this is the first time I’ve been eager to give the whole thing my attention from the start.

Ohhhh, I’m pretty excited! The last time White Reaper put out a new album it was pre-pandemic and I also missed seeing them open for The Killers at a free show for MLB’s All-Star Weekend. Beyond bummed. But, it’s a new year and the band have just released their fourth full-length album, Asking for a Ride. And, oh yeah, I get to see them twice this year!

It’s the end of an era, folks. The other day, remaining and sole (?) member of Panic! at the Disco, Brendon Urie, announced the band’s end as he chooses to focus on his family. I wasn’t too surprised that this once dominant four-piece finally puttered out. Sure, the pop masses still ate up anything he offered, but I tapped out a few albums ago. There were decent songs here and there, but nothing can match the brilliance that was their debut into the world, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. I remember hearing “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” at thirteen and just getting the coolest feeling. I immediately sought out the record, and luckily my parents didn’t investigate too far into it and bought it for me. I’ve seen them live at least four times over the course of my life and I just hope that if someday the band gets resurrected that we get the lineup of that era, but for now, I will reflect and be happy.

That’s right, in a year stuffed to the brim with live music, seeing Foals last night was the last hoorah of 2022. But what a way to end it!

Since I was going to be seeing Bad Omens over this past weekend, I figured I should give their latest album, The Death of Peace of Mind a full run-through. I knew a couple of older singles thanks to my sister, but in looking at the set lists from other shows on the tour, this new album was going to be featured heavily.

Well, nothing like listening to an album almost a year and a half after it was initially released. Time is a black hole and it definitely hasn’t felt like that much time has passed. In any case, I’m finally listening to Inhaler’s debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This a mere four months before their sophomore effort hits the shelves.
