Who knew Dave Grohl could write? Books, I mean. Certainly the man can pen a song or two…just ask any of the number of successful projects he’s been a part of over the years. This is a bit different though. At almost 400 pages, this novels spans the wild years of his life, both personally and professionally. It’s a peak behind the curtain.

Book Review: The Dirty Secrets Club by Meg Gardiner
The Dirty Secrets Club by Meg Gardiner is a book that came into my life via a sale at my local library last summer. At the time, I was in the midst of a new Karen McManus novel, and the name of this book with the red cover looked just like something she would put out.

I…think I’m kind of over the whole You universe brought to us by Caroline Kepnes. It’s in that weird stage now where the show is a season ahead and not at all what the latest novel, For You and Only You, was about. Granted, I have no clue what Kepnes’ involvement with the show is and I realize that most adaptations don’t follow the source material closely at all, but still. It’s odd.

I’m not sure why it took me so long to finally read the source material that the Frameline Festival film, Lie With Me was based on. In fact, it had been on my ‘to be read’ list for quite some time prior to me even learning about the film!

I certainly appreciate McManus giving us all a roster of important players in her third novel for the One of Us is Lying series. It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since the last installment came out, but then there was also a television series introduced to muddy the waters a little bit. No fear though, if you were a fan of the first two novels, then One of Us is Back will be easy to pick up on right away.

After reading Red, White and Royal Blue again, and then following it up with the movie adaptation, it’s no surprise that Zarah Detand’s Pull Me Under is what I flocked to next.

I’ve finally decided to start working through all the books I’ve bought myself over the years that have been sitting on me shelf untouched. This novel by M.T. Edvardsson, like most of my other purchases, have been bargain bin finds, with blurbs intriguing enough for me to purchase. A Nearly Normal Family fit that mold, with its unsettling mystery at the center.

I still don’t know if anything will beat In a Dark, Dark Wood for me, but Ruth Ware has continued to release strong novels ever since her debut in 2015. That’s no exception for her latest, Day Zero.

I had the great honor of meeting the great Riley Sager, one of my favorite authors, at the beginning of the month where he was promoting his new book, The Only One Left.
Read moreBook Review: The Midnight Witness by Sara Blaedel
Sometimes you win with bargain book purchases, but sometimes you find mediocre ones. This was one of those times. Again, I’m not saying anything was outright bad with Sara Blaedel’s novel, The Midnight Witness, but I’d say if you ask me next month what this was about I couldn’t tell you much of anything.
