At this point I feel like it should be no surprise that the final drawing I managed to crank out for 2021 is of The Last Shadow Puppets. Somehow this supergroup slipped under my radar until this year but I’m so glad I was able to find out about them – better late than never! So here’s my final drawing featuring lyrics from their songs “Pattern,” “Aviation,” and “Bad Habits.” Enjoy!

Fan Art Friday: Lady Gaga
Love her or hate her, she’s Lady Gaga. I would consider myself a middle of the road fan. I appreciate her music to a degree and I’ve seen the handful of things she’s acted in. Back when House of Gucci came out, this picture of her popped up and I just knew I had to draw it! So, enjoy.

Alright, technically it’s not Friday, but it’s still fine for me to post some deserving fan art! I would like to point out though that this is some throwback fan art, as I’m currently in the middle of a new drawing you’ll have to wait and see next week. With Don’t Look Up in select theaters and hitting Netflix next week, I figured it was a great time to welcome Jennifer Lawrence back into the fold of acting after she took some time off the last couple of years. I can’t wait to see this movie, and I especially can’t wait to see Lawrence on screen again. Who knows, maybe soon she’ll get a new drawing, too!

Having now seen Slipknot three times, I think it’s finally time I drew it’s mastermind of creativity! That, and I have the opportunity to meet Corey Taylor tomorrow. Enjoy!

I’ll admit, I’m late to the Jodie Comer party. Killing Eve has been on my watch list for quite some time now, but it’s still decently far back in the queue. Besides her award winning turn on that hit show, she hasn’t really done much else. Well, that all changed this year when she gave great performances in two drastically different film offerings. The first was Free Guy, which ended up not being quite as funny as I would have hoped, and the latter was The Last Duel. Perhaps that dramatic role is what’s garnered her the most buzz in recent years. She gives a terse performance dealing in very serious subject matter. Her name is still floating around for awards season, and wouldn’t that just be the icing on the cake of her very young career? Anything is possible, but I can’t wait to see what else she’s got in store for the future!

I’ve been a pretty big fan of Adam Driver for quite some time now. Sure, he’s probably most known for his turn as the bad guy Kylo Ren in the latest trio of Star Wars movies, but he’s been in plenty of great indie films and three great turns hosting SNL. If I had to recommend anything to you that he’s in that I’ve seen so far it would be Logan Lucky and Marriage Story. Personally, I’m looking forward to House of Gucci, and there’s another future film of his that’s got me excited for all sorts of reasons I can’t divulge right now, but just be patient. You’ll hear about it soon enough.

I do believe my love for this band in never-ending. The Last Shadow Puppets have only released two albums over the course of 13 years, but I hope me being this late to the party means that they are close to putting out a third (and hopefully not last) record. Watching old live performances on Youtube have been a joy and Alex Turner and Miles Kane are mesmerizing. It’s clear these two have fun on stage! In order to cement my love for them, here is another drawing. Fear not though, I’m sure there will be plenty more to come.

I’m sure most of the world knows Vanessa Kirby from The Crown, but given that I try to avoid things related to the royals, she came into my orbit with last year’s critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated film Pieces of a Woman. She even got nominated! During this second year of the pandemic, I got the chance to catch her in an eerie drama called Italian Studies during the Tribeca Film Festival. Everyone else will have to wait until January to feast your eyes on it. I’d say with those performances in the bag she’s got a bright and magnetic future ahead of her. I look forward to what she puts out next!

Back to some mini drawings this week! This time around I wanted to revisit the first ever ball point pen drawing I’d ever done. Back in the tenth grade, I decided to draw Motion City Soundtrack from their album, Commit This to Memory. At the time, I thought it turned out so freaking cool and that’s what spawned me to stick with the pen ever since! Well, looking back at it, it’s sort of rough, but I was thrilled that drawing it this second time around was just as fun. The images are so cool and deserve to be on paper as many times as possible. I’ve got both iterations of this drawing for you, so enjoy.

Sure, we can use the word obsessed right now. I think that’s fair. But I can’t help it! After listening to The Last Shadow Puppets and Arctic Monkeys near constantly for the last six months or so, what can you expect?! So anyways, since I just reviewed Arctic Monkeys album, AM, pretty recently, here is a drawing of Alex Turner from that time. So suave!
