I blame popular radio for never getting into the Arctic Monkeys back in the day. Given that their first and second records came out in my prime music discovery time (middle school), somehow these guys slipped under the radar and then I only ever heard “Do I Wanna Know?” and “Are You Mine?” on repeat in 2013. That was too much for me. But here I am, many, many years later and I’m finally giving them a fair shake. I’d say it’s largely due to the fact that I’m obsessed with The Last Shadow Puppets. Something else I might be obsessed with? Arctic Monkeys’ first record, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.

Death From Above 1979 – Is 4 Lovers Album Review
I know a couple months ago I told you all about Death From Above 1979’s newest single, “One + One,” but evidently I didn’t think to look any further into new music from this group. I’m a fool! It’s been out for two month’s now! To make up for it, I ordered some merch along with the album. Now, let’s get down to reviewing Is 4 Lovers.

It’s been many years in the making now, and months of singles, but 100 percent worth the wait! As I anticipated, Royal Blood’s new album Typhoons is a banger from beginning to end, and I’m about to walk you through my thoughts on all of it!

That’s right, there are even more singles being released by bands that I’ve now determined are tormenting me by making me wait for their new albums, but also satiating me with new music. That’s right, Royal Blood and AFI have both dropped two new singles a piece off their upcoming albums, Typhoons and Bodies, respectively.

Admittedly, even though Machine Gun Kelly is from my neck of the woods, I’ve never really given his music much of a chance in the past. A large part of that has to do with the fact that he’s primarily a rapper, which just isn’t really my cup of tea. Yes, I’ve seen him at rock and emo shows, both as a fan and as a performer, but I just attributed that to the fact that he was local. Turns out, he can make some really good emo and punk music! Let his new album, Tickets to My Downfall, put all your fears to rest.

New music has felt like it’s coming at me in an onslaught, but I am certainly not complaining! Especially coming off the slow year that was 2020. What makes me even more happy is that it’s rock! I love rock, I miss rock, I need rock. And truth be told, these singles all rocked!

New singles have been dropping this early this year and I am so excited! And even better, by some of my favorite bands who have been MIA for a few years. As if 2020 hadn’t sucked enough all on its own, it didn’t really help that not a lot of music seemed to get released. As of now, I think that’s all about to change! At least for me, anyway! If you like rock, then keep reading to get some new singles in your life!

It’s Foo Fighters’ world and we’re just living in it! In pretty quick succession, the band released a couple of singles, performed on SNL and at Joe Biden’s inauguration, and then promptly dropped a new album’s worth of songs on us all. Oh, yeah, they also got their name on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voting list this year! Quite a busy time for the band who have managed to make the best of a shitty situation. I know they’d be touring the world right now if they could.

Since the month of Avatar is over and it’s clear there will still be no live shows anytime soon, I decided to scour the internet to see if any of my other favorite bands were streaming shows. I was in luck to find out that Silverstein we’re doing something a little bit similar to Avatar in that they will be putting on three different shows for the rest of the Saturdays in February as part of their Out of This World Concert Series. Yay me! One that stood out the most to me from this trio was the very first option, Greatest Hits. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been listening to Silverstein for a very long time, but this just seemed like the best way to hear all of my favorites at once.

Blaqk Audio’s Beneath the Black Palms and 5 Seconds of Summer’s Calm were both drastically different listening experiences, but enjoyable in their own ways. Yes, this means I am still trying to make my way through some 2020 releases that have been on my list this year.
