The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
When you’re coming off the creativity that is WandaVision after a year of no Marvel activity? That’s a hard standard to live up to! Not that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was a disappointment. Far from it, in fact, but it just didn’t grab me as much as its television predecessor.

Oh, man! This week saw another spring premiere, and all of them brought the drama! There were tears, there was suspense, and there was audible gasping. That’s good television. Let’s review, shall we?

I told you it’d be a quick turnaround for the second season of the delightful sci-fi romance, A Discovery of Witches! Now I fear I will have to wait an obscene amount of time for the third season even though filming has already wrapped! I am also a little bit sad because I know the third season will be its last, although I respect the decision to stay faithful to the novels and not expand upon the world Deborah Harkness created.

After a very brief winter hiatus, a couple network shows I watch have made their way back on the air! I’m really talking about two questionable dramas, Prodigal Son and Big Sky. After some fun turns, I have faith that Prodigal Son is going to be decently entertaining moving forward even if they aren’t going to drop the case of the week format. Big Sky is still leaving me feeling unsatisfied, but I recently got my hands on the book the show is based off of, The Highway, so at least I’ll have fun comparing the two.

Whew! About about a month ago I sat down to watch the HBO miniseries starring my main man, Mark Ruffalo, as twins in I Know This Much is True. After finishing all six installments, I really liked it and decided to bite the bullet and read the 900 page book of the same name. I figured with that much in writing, the show surely missed details, but I was wrong!

After spending some quality time with dramatic shows and movies, I’ve decided there are still so many excellent comedies out there that I’ve never had time to dedicate to! In that case, I made the executive decision to start an HBO classic, Silicon Valley. A good friend of mine recommended this to me a while back, and she clearly knows me well, because I found this first season pretty darn hilarious.

I first heard about A Discovery of Witches, based on Deborah Harkness’ All Souls trilogy, back in 2018 just before it was about to come out. Unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be available on anything I was already paying for, so I vowed to watch it some day in the future. Well, enough of the future has passed that the second season has already came and went, so I decided it was time to make it happen! That, and a friend of mine declared how much she liked it.

It’s been a bit of a week, but I managed to squeeze in Des, a creepy and disturbing three-part miniseries about real life Scottish serial killer, Dennis Nilsen. After being shown an add for this show countless times (they know me so well) and my recent watch of David Tennant in Camping, I felt like I had to give this short series a go. It was well worth the watch, and just like any other serial killer you’ve heard about, their gruesome acts are still endlessly fascinating.

Ever since this Hulu comedy aired, I seen nothing but praise for it, so I figured it was finally time to check PEN15 out! Straight off the bat I could understand why critics loved this show, but I imagine the casual viewer was probably extremely uncomfortable by most of this show. I personally found myself somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, although the first half of the second season really got me hooked.
