Television Binge-Watch Review

I watched a lot of TV over the holiday weekend, so rather than hash out every last detail, I figured I’d give you the cliff notes and my two cents. Enjoy!

Looking for Alaska – This limited series based on the John Greene novel of the same name, follows a small group of social misfits as they navigate a slew of emotions at their very nature-centric private school. It’s been a little while since I’ve read the book, but it seemed to follow it to a ‘T’ and I’d say that was in their best interest. Miles “Pudge” Halter, Chip “The Colonel” Martin, Takumi, and Alaska Young all pull pranks while dealing with the complexities of life. And at the end they look for Alaska, although she’s not easily found.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – The sixth season continues to deliver strong episodes, from Dennis getting married and divorced within two episodes, Dee has a baby, and there’s even a two-part Christmas special that brings in some classic (yet very inappropriate) clay-mation! My favorite episode of the season has to be “The Gang Buys a Boat.” I also didn’t notice until after the fact that “Dee Reynolds: Shaping America’s Youth” was removed from Hulu due to inappropriate content in relation to current issues in the world. So, I’m sad I missed out on Paul Walter Hausers’ guest spot in that episode.

Living With Yourself – Double dose of Paul Rudd? Yes, please! That’s right, to Paul Rudd’s. He plays Miles, a depressed mna who seems to have nothing going his way. At the persuasion of a co-worker he checks out a strange spa that clones him and buries his old body in the forest! Only thing is, the old Miles didn’t die. So now there are two Miles in the world and they both have to figure out how to navigate it. Odd little comedy.
