TharnType2: 7 Years of Love Review

When I really thought about it, I knew I was going to start the next season on TharnType without much of a break in between. Turns out that was two days. What I wasn’t anticipating was finishing the other thirteen episodes in four days. That’s not what I do! I am not a binge-watcher!

These guys have me hooked, apparently. Though I suppose I should have seen it coming given how quickly I re-watched KinnPorsche. I almost NEVER re-watch television shows. Even my all time favorites. The Thai BL dramas get to me in a way where my brain stops functioning properly. Because let me reiterate, these shows are really not that good. The dialogue is weird a lot of the time (though that is likely a translation thing), and some of the plotlines seem like they belong on a soap opera, but the CHEMISTRY. Not as strong as on KinnPorsche, but the leads of TharnType certainly have it.

Anyway, after the special episode we got after the first season, four years had passed. Now though, it’s been another three years and they are full-fledged working adults. Ugh. I feel their pain. I saw some people online saying that this season sucked, and um, how dare they! This season was much steamier, and although there are a handful of jealous relationship moments that are ridiculous, a lot of the drama stems from Type’s job as an athletic doctor. He’s being targeted by his boss at work, and in a show of maturity, Type just kind of takes it. He knows he needs a full year in before he can start looking elsewhere, and I think a lot of people can relate to that.

The other biggest theme of the season I would say is about communication. Sure, they’ve been together for so long, but if you’re not fully open with your significant other, than things are bound to go wrong. That’s why Tharn thinks Type cheated on him with a CHILD. Yuck. But it also has to do with Type not opening up to Tharn about all the struggles he’s facing at work. It’s hard to compare when Tharn seems to love his job as a music producer, and he’s got his family’s wealth to fall back on. Type is just trying to find success and support in his own life.

The best part of the season had to come in the form of all of the hook up scenes – I’m just a woman! But I also loved all the marriage stuff that came in the last episode and the final special. It’s so dang sweet, and then they tacked on some behind the scenes goodies throughout the credits! I know this show will not appeal to a lot of people, but for whatever reason it’s gained a lot of favor with me.
