The Chats – Get F*cked Album Review

I mean, with a name like Get F*cked, how could the latest full length from The Chats not be amazing?

The answer is, it can’t. Seriously, this thing was great from start to finish. I know High Risk Behaviour already came out two years ago, but I really only started listening to these guys at the start of the year. It seems like no time at all has passed, but really I just feel lucky to have so much new music from these guys again already. This is the first time new guitarist, Josh Hardy, is featured on an album’s recording, but he fits seamlessly into The Chats’ signature sound. They’re as punk as they come, and I hope that never changes.

Something a little unique this time around is that there are two songs that are almost four minutes long – that’s almost unheard of! I also noticed that those two tracks, “The Price of Smokes” and “Getting Better” also brought out some really different vocals from Eamon Sandwith. There was still brash undercurrent, but I almost thought someone else was singing for a hot minute. Otherwise, the rest of the album is a nice extension almost from their debut. That means you get, short, sometimes hilarious, bangers.

“Ticket Inspector” was my personal favorite, although “Struck By Lightening” and “Panic Attack” are close seconds. Nothing prepared me for the hilarity of “Emperor of the Beach,” and “6LT GTR” has that amazing cartoon video to back up its awesomeness. Similar to their first record, no song here was wasted space and everything sounded amazing to my ears. It’s crazy that I saw them just a few months before this record was released. I can only hope I get the chance to see them again soon.

So, if you haven’t listened to The Chats already, well what the hell are you waiting for?!
