The Other Two – Season 2

Oh my gosh! I definitely never thought I’d ever see the second season of this incredible comedy. Back in January of 2019, the first season of The Other Two premiered on Comedy Central, and then after it aired and I laughed a bunch, I never heard anything about it. When it finally got picked up for a second season, the well of information ran dry again, but then a second season finally saw the light of day later last year.

Your girl also finally got HBO Max back for the month so that means I finally got to watch it! For those that don’t know, the first season centered around Brooke and Cary Dubek, two siblings in their late twenties still trying to make it in the industry when their little brother becomes a bonafide popstar. Their struggles were so painful to watch but so unbelievable hilarious. The finally start to come into their own a little bit by the end of the season, but it turns out Chase is a horrible singer and then their mother, Pat, becomes an accidental star herself. It’s at that point that the second season picks up.

Brooke and Cary both struggle a little bit more, but then Brooke becomes co-manager of both her mom’s skyrocketing career and Chase’s resurgence after attending college for about a week. She really is crushing it most of the season! Cary, in a new relationship seems to be just fine with his personal successes, but then acting finally starts to take off for him, too. Of course, there are many hiccups along the way for these two and I just love how out of touch they are with the world sometimes. Their singular focus on their own lives is what brings the family conflict to a head in the final episode of the season, but it’s a wild ride getting there.

Truth be told, the first probably ten minutes of the season had me really worried that it wouldn’t be as surprisingly enjoyable as the first season was, but I was quickly proven wrong and found myself cackling for most of the rest of the ten-episode season. Brooke’s ex-boyfriend, Lance, is one of my personal favorites, but Ken Marino as Pat and Chase’s manager, Streeter, also had me laughing in every scene he was in. Really, this whole cast is aces and if you haven’t discovered it on HBO Max yet, then what the hell are you doing with your lives? Lucky for me, The Other Two got picked up for a third season, but I only hope I don’t have to wait near as long for it.
