The White Lotus – Season 2

I hustled to watch all of the second season of The White Lotus just before the finale aired. This show continues to impress!

Unlike my sister though, I don’t know that I can pick a favorite season between the two. Despite Tanya being in both, they are just so different from each other. This time around we meet our group of messy rich people at Sicily’s White Lotus resort. Luckily, the Italians working this resort aren’t treated quite as poorly as the workers at the Hawaiian one (poor Armand). We get little pockets of wealthy people problems, and even the more likeable ones still make you roll your eyes at them…a lot.

We’ve got three generations of son, father, and grandfather who are all sexually responsive to women. Even the young and “woke” Albie still makes similar mistakes like his father and grandfather. The only difference is that he thinks he’s so in touch with feminism that it makes him an easy target. Cue the sex workers showing up at the hotel with this new crop of Americans. They certainly make their way around the resort, but through no fault of their own in my opinion. They even eventually wear down the stern, up-tight manager, Valentina.

In another pocket you’ve got two old college roommates and their wives. Now, more than a decade after their time in school, Ethan has finally come into a lot of money, so his wife Harper correctly guesses why Cameron finally got in touch after all these years. Sure, Cameron and his wife, Daphne are well-to-do, but why not create more opportunities for yourself. It’s clear that Ethan and Harper aren’t used to this world, but their relationship also seems to be floundering. It’s a season of jealously for the two, and Cameron and Daphne appear to be their polar opposites. It’s interesting to see what transgressed between this quad throughout the show’s run.

Finally, there’s everyone’s season one favorite, Tanya. She’s come with her assistant to meet her husband on this vacation. He’s not there too long before heading back home for business, but it’s clear Greg does not really like Tanya at all anymore. Once he’s gone, Tanya is beside herself until she meets a group of “high-end gays” and starts having a blast on the trip. Poor assistant Portia is just along for the ride mainly, but she gets herself into some sticky situations. That’s all I’m going to say about this group because what unfolds is crazy!

Similar to the first season, there’s a dead body at the beginning, which turns into dead bodies, and we just all had to figure it out by the end of the season! I predicted correctly, but there were some fantastic fan theories online that really had my wheels turning. Please go in blind to this show! I promise you won’t regret it!
