Weekly Drama Recap

As usual, here is the weekly recap of the current dramas I’m watching. Enjoy!

On Animal Kingdom this week, Deran is in hot water. And so is J? I still think he’s not really at fault for this, but it’s obvious that the brothers would be harboring some resentment for killing their mother in front of them. Regardless, Deran is the real problem here since the DEA is sniffing around in his business for making Adrian disappear on them. That means Pete flushed their coke, which I’m starting to think not all of it got flushed. That means no payout and Craig has had enough. In an effort to make some cash, he does a string of robberies, but then spends it all on alcohol? This is the worst I’ve seen his drug and alcohol use since the beginning of the series. He might not end up okay at this rate. And things are still heated between him and Ren. I imagine she’ll leave his ass eventually. Elsewhere, Pope is trying to make things right with his vision quest partner, so he gets her kid and abandons the dad in the desert. I can honestly say I’m happy he’s done with them and back in the house.

But he’s got a mess to clean up, starting with the fight that J, Deran, and Craig got into. It’s clear J is outnumbered, and even though he holds his own, he wants out of that house. Pope tells him to stick around, but I doubt that’s going to be happening. If anything, he’ll surely be going back to Pamela’s granddaughter to get sole ownership of everything – right? In the flashbacks, Pam joins Smurf on a job where they steal from a jewelry store. It’s clear she’ll always trust Pam more then any guy she’s sleeping with, but I think Pam is smart for keeping some distance between them. I’ll be interested to see where that storyline goes now that Pam is back in Smurf’s life.

Then on Roswell, New Mexico, we learn that Kyle’s been taken and Maria is in a coma. Isobel tries to find Maria in her mind, but ultimately needs Rosa’s help after she develops a new ability of enhanced hearing. Alex is back this week, so that means we get a new interaction with the machine that he’s been tinkering with. It ends up sending out some signal that messes with some vampire bats, and of course Guerin is making similar connections. The two meet up briefly to exchange information and a conversation full of double meaning, but I think their time to reunite will be later in the season at this rate. After a conversation with Liz about Kyle, Alex is able to figure out that his mentor at Deep Sky might actually be Kyle’s uncle and likely has something to do with his disappearance! Who would think the leader of some super secret government group would be evil? Um, probably everyone, but who’s counting.

Some other big news we learn by the end of the episode is that Max is Jones! He seemed pretty sketchy all episode, and I did think that the first time he even popped up on screen, but eventually Isobel and Rosa find a hidden memory in Rosa’s mind that reveals Jones is the one that put her in a coma. Liz finds this out almost simultaneously when she sees a handprint on Maria’s head. It might be too late though, because Jones is able to get a sword he’s been searching for since he broke out from the pod. There are still plenty of cliffhangers to be solved next episode, and I for one, can’t wait! What a fun ride this season has been.

As I’ve been saying though, Animal Kingdom is really dragging stuff out this season. It better be a really satisfying payoff in the end. With that being said, obviously I’m watching the final season, no questions. I just hope they start making more interesting stuff happen soon! Roswell, on the other hand, is firing on all cylinders and I can’t imagine they’re going to slow down any. Since we now know that Jones is out and about, the quest will surely be to stop him and wake up Max somehow. And that Deep Sky reveal is sure to bring more Mayhem to Roswell, but hopefully not at the cost of Alex’s life (held at gunpoint again!). Until next week!
