A new week means new installments of some of my favorite dramas on television! Let’s see what’s happened this week.
9-1-1 Lone Star – This week we see Owen and Gwyneth flip-flop on whether or not to keep the baby, especially after learning about all of the risks potentially involved. Somewhat unsurprisingly, they decide to keep the baby on the day they were going to terminate the pregnancy. Not sure how I feel about this plotline, but I’m sure something will go amiss. Elsewhere in the episode, T.K., Marjan, and Paul try to figure out how to tell Mateo that he got a misspelled tattoo and is more than likely dyslexic. Marjan eventually has to break the news before he decides to post a photo of it on Instagram, and also helps him get it fixed for free. Another death occurs this week, and that is in the form of a father who was driving his daughter to college before their car slams straight into the back of a semitruck. The other calamity the 126 attends to this week happens to involve Judd’s father in law going into diabetic shock while in bed with another woman. He spends the rest of the episode battling with how and when to tell Grace. Unfortunately, she figures it out on her own and is quite upset about it. It will be interesting to see how that carries over to next week.
Prodigal Son – This week took a creative turn, as well as revealing something quite shocking by episode’s end. This week, the team is led to a hotel, where an architect had his eyes stabbed out by one of his tools. Malcolm decides to go back to this creepy, in-construction hotel on his own and ends up getting pushed into an elevator shaft. He’s definitely concussed and ends up entering a sort of alternate reality (in his mind, obviously). In this new world, Malcolm never learned about his father’s serial killings, so the Whitley family is a happy one. Alternatively, Gil is in prison after going insane from drinking the poisoned tea Martin gave him. Another thing making Malcolm’s life a happy one is that he is in a relationship with Dani. Look, I was hoping for some more originality here. It seems like such an obvious move to eventually have these two become a couple, despite how messed up Malcolm is in real life. Make him bisexual or something! Anyways, it takes a while, but Malcolm finally figures out this world is not his real one, but it does help him figure out who the killer is! This little journey into another life also makes him realize he needs to tell Ainsley what actually happened with Endicott. Only, when he goes to tell her, she reveals a blood-soaked shirt under her coat! She blacked out again, and I’m assuming there’s a body somewhere. We better get an answer to this next week!
Big Sky – Well, well, well. The surprised keep coming on this so-so crime drama, and I for one still don’t know how they plan to keep that going until the end of the season, let alone if it gets renewed for another! Anyways, the episode opens with the little boy still missing and everyone trying to find him. Cassie strikes gold, but circle back to Ronald’s house too late. They are gone and he’s rigged the house with explosives. Jenny manages to save Ronald’s mother’s body in time though. Luckily, the acted fast enough that they manage to get back on Ronald’s tail pretty quick. Only…it’s not Ronald driving with the boy, it’s the dead priest! Damn new car technology! Eventually, they figure out how to stop the car and get the boy safely back to his mother. Elsewhere in the episode, Merrilee is still closely watching Rick and we get to see some heart-warming flashbacks to their relationship over the years. Despite all the good memories, these flashbacks also clue Merrilee onto the fact that Rick is in fact faking his memory loss. At least, it really seems that way. See we’ll never be totally sure because she goes to Rick’s room with the same hammer that he was going to use to kill several episodes back. She finishes a creepy song he used to sing and then succinctly bashes his skull in. Good for her! No more duping from one of the assholes in her life. Her story has gotten increasingly more interesting as the episodes have rolled on, but we won’t get any updates until April, as they take a “spring break.”
