Did I just choose another book that got adapted into a film? You bet. Is it going to be creepy? It better be! Does it star Elisabeth Moss? Of course. I respect horror on film and in writing, and yes, I’ve read a few Shirley Jackson works in my time, but I was drawn to this fictional novel, Shirley, because it was a more subtle thriller delivered from the perspective of an outsider looking into the Hyman/Jackson home.

Quibi – The Stranger, Cont.
Okay, Quibi. I stand corrected. You did not totally disappoint me because I was fooled into thinking The Stranger was all but over after seven measly episodes, when in fact there were another six that aired! That’s right. Thirteen total episodes to tell the story. Where did we leave off?

As one show ends, another soldiers on. The show ending its season of course, is Prodigal Son. Will it get picked up for another? That remains to be seen. I will say, it was an impressive end, given how shaky I’ve felt about the second half of the season. Let’s dig in to both Roswell, New Mexico and Prodigal Son.

Since it was just a normal two-day weekend for me, I only managed to squeeze in two movies. To be fair, I watched a lot of shows, too! Either way, I picked two shorter films, one a bit newer with a sci-fi story, and the other was just a little bit bonkers. Let’s dive in!

Sure, they’ve been fairly active on social media during this time of quarantine, but I want MORE! Here’s hoping, and in the meantime here’s the first drawing I ever did of them back in 2013 (I believe).

I love thrillers, so I was glad to be reading a new one that more recently came out and already has the rights picked up by Steven Spielberg for a screen adaptation. In my mind, those are really good indicators of an excellent novel. And I was right! The Wife Between Us, co-written by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen had so many great twists and turns that I tore right through this in a week!
