The Dresden Dolls take me way back to my high school days. Back when bands were cool and creative and carefree. Just like The Dresden Dolls were! Comprising of lead vocalist Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione, The Dresden Dolls’ sound was what I, and many others, would describe as cabaret punk. They were wholly unique in their performances and showed a real passion in what they were producing. Also, they recently got back together! Hopefully there is some new music in the future, or at least a tour! Go familiarize yourself with “Backstabber” please!

Foo Fighters Medicine at Midnight Album Review
It’s Foo Fighters’ world and we’re just living in it! In pretty quick succession, the band released a couple of singles, performed on SNL and at Joe Biden’s inauguration, and then promptly dropped a new album’s worth of songs on us all. Oh, yeah, they also got their name on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voting list this year! Quite a busy time for the band who have managed to make the best of a shitty situation. I know they’d be touring the world right now if they could.
Read moreBook Review: Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade
After seeing my friend’s gushing review about Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade, and she picked it as her monthly book purchase, I knew I had to read it myself. Her brief summary of its contents was all I needed to head to my local library and rent it. And I’m glad I did! This book has what I love about being a nerdy adult, but also coupling it with some very adult content and body positivity. What’s not to like?!

I know it seems hard to believe, but I actually watched my weekly dramas on the nights they aired this week! Honestly, I’m as shocked as you are. Although, after the week and a half I’ve had, I almost needed the nightly escape that these shows bring me. Anyways, since Valentine’s Day is this weekend, it didn’t come as a surprise to me that one of these shows focused on love, while the others kept the drama high.

Well folks, I feel like a full-length album from I Don’t Know How But They Found Me has been a long time coming. The band itself formed nearly five years ago, with the last new material coming in the form of a Christmas EP back in 2019. They finally put out a complete work entitled Razzmatazz, that seems stylistically different than their initial EP from 2018, 1981 Extended Play. I didn’t really love that EP, so I was hesitant and then pleasantly surprised when I finally sat down and get the album a listen!

Ah, back to normal viewing levels this weekend after last week’s insanely busy slate full of Sundance Film Festival entries. Actually, I’d consider this a pretty low count! And truth be told, none of these were real winners despite the hype for at least one of them.
Read moreConcert Review: Silverstein – Greatest Hits
Since the month of Avatar is over and it’s clear there will still be no live shows anytime soon, I decided to scour the internet to see if any of my other favorite bands were streaming shows. I was in luck to find out that Silverstein we’re doing something a little bit similar to Avatar in that they will be putting on three different shows for the rest of the Saturdays in February as part of their Out of This World Concert Series. Yay me! One that stood out the most to me from this trio was the very first option, Greatest Hits. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been listening to Silverstein for a very long time, but this just seemed like the best way to hear all of my favorites at once.

Love the reliability of network television in that I get new episodes every week. Yes, it’s nice that certain streaming services dump all of their content at once, but sometimes you never know when you’re going to see that next season (here’s looking at you, Special!). Network television reliably airs weekly in the spring and fall, with a winter break. I love it. Anyways, here’s what happened this week in drama.

I realize we’re almost to the new weekend, but I felt the need to highlight some other new films I managed to squeeze in between all of my Sundance selections!

And they keep on coming! The Sundance Film Festival is a week-long endeavor, so that means while ideally I’d get to watch everything I want on the weekend, realistically there are some I’ve got to wait for. But they are worth the wait! Also, it worked out for me that none of these interfered with my day job! Another strong lot of films, so let’s get into it!
