Album Review: Bear Hands, Fake Tunes

One of my favorite alternative bands, Bear Hands, finally released their latest full-length album, Fake Tunes, nearly three years after one of my favorite records ever, You’ll Pay for This was ironically (or not) released on tax day. This album was a strong follow-up and I’ll certainly be listening to this in the pool all summer long!

Lead single, “Back Seat Driver (Spirit Guide)” was release several months back, but I knew then that the band was making something great! They followed up with “Blue Lips” featuring Ursula Rose, who is also featured on another song off the record – both equally fantastic! Honestly, listening to the record straight through the first time on my way to work, I was highly impressed with every single track. There were a lot of different instruments coming through, and they have always just had the coolest beats. So really, the fact that everything was so good should have come as no surprise. Other stand-out tracks for me were “Mr. Radioactive” and “Exes,” but seriously listen to this whole record!

Having seen Bear Hands at a very small venue a few years back (amazing show), I’m very excited that they are getting their time in the sun touring with Twenty One Pilots this summer, because their talent truly deserves some recognition. If you’re headed out to see Twenty One Pilots, make sure to get there early to catch Bear Hands and all of their awesomeness!
