Barry Season 3

It’s been so long since a full season of Barry has hit HBO! But it’s back, and I got to it pretty quick, if I do say so myself. And I, just like plenty of other people, loved it.

We come into the season a little while after Barry’s epic flip-out and shoot-out of the Bolivian and Chechen drug den. He seems to be in a mindless rut as he takes up random assassin jobs since he’s got no acting gigs, Cousineau hates his guts for killing Moss, and Sally is too preoccupied writing and starring in her own show to give Barry any sort of attention. With some help from Hank, and his new lover Cristobal, he leads the police’s suspicions away from Barry and onto Fuches who’s being hidden in Chechnya for the time being.

Barry tries his hardest all season to right the wrongs in his life, and his first attempt is with Cousineau. He tries to land him a role on Sally’s show, but the two of them end up landing guest roles on a different show. This also prompts Hollywood to start accepting Cousineau back into their world after he was horrible to most of them in his early career. They all think that he helped Barry find himself after war with acting. He’s eating it up, but it still worried for his family from Barry. After learning from Sally that he’s a scary and violent person, she dumps him and then also promises Cousineau that he’ll stay out of his life for good.

Alternatively, Fuches decides to leave the safety of Chechnya from Barry to go back and find the people most closely connected to the people he had Barry kill in the past. He gives them all Barry’s address hoping that somebody will succeed in killing him. A lot of attempts were made, but somehow none were ever fully successful with the task. While Hank has several interactions with Barry over the course of the season, a lot of time is spent with him and Cristobal. Eventually, Crisobal is kidnapped by his wife and Hank decides he wants to save him. That story this season was such a strange and joyous one to take that ultimately made sense in the end.

Overall, Barry shoots for redemption this season and fails epically. I can tell you without spoiling anything that the season ends on a serious cliffhanger, and luckily it’s already been picked up for a fourth season. I sincerely hope we get it a lot quicker this time. Go watch this comedy if you haven’t already!
