If you’ve been paying attention, I’ve practically been begging you to listen to the four new singles AFI have released in the past couple months. This is the first new music from the band in about four years so it’s freaking exciting! Even more exciting? They’re also putting out an album on June 11th entitled Bodies, and I for one cannot wait. In the meantime, check out this extremely throwback drawing of the band from their Decemberunderground days!

Fan Art Friday: Workaholics/This is Important
Ahhh! Something way cool has happened! Paramount+, the new streaming platform has announced a Workaholics movie and my heart has never been so full. The day before this awesome news I decided to draw the boys in honor of their equally hilarious podcast, This Is Important, but it just seems so much better now because of the announcement. Either way, pumped for the continued content from these dudes and you should enjoy this drawing.

It’s been about a decade since I last drew Empire of the Sun and they are still number one on my concert bucket, so I figured they deserved a new drawing. Hopefully they’ll release some new music soon, too!

The Dresden Dolls take me way back to my high school days. Back when bands were cool and creative and carefree. Just like The Dresden Dolls were! Comprising of lead vocalist Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione, The Dresden Dolls’ sound was what I, and many others, would describe as cabaret punk. They were wholly unique in their performances and showed a real passion in what they were producing. Also, they recently got back together! Hopefully there is some new music in the future, or at least a tour! Go familiarize yourself with “Backstabber” please!

I’ve been watching Cillian Murphy in films since middle school and he is truly a master of the craft. My first taste was being scared shitless by him in Red Eye, but my favorite of his performances has to be in the 2015 war drama Anthropoid. Since someone bought my last drawing of Cillian, I figured I could draw him again! Especially with those eyes!

This fan art was solely provoked by the fact that yesterday when I was watching Jeopardy with my parents, 12 Monkeys was the answer to a Bruce Willis themed question, and it made me remember that I painted something several years back in honor of that. The show specifically, but still. Enjoy!

I’ll admit that it took me a long while to warm up to the acting chops on Kristen Stewart. Sure, she was good in Panic Room and Speak, but everyone knows she was an abysmal choice for Bella Swan in the Twilight franchise. However, just like her awkward co-star Robert Pattinson, she’s also been making some smart and fun choices in the indie film world since then. If I had to recommend some, my favorites have been Personal Shopper and Happiest Season, but really you could take your pick of the litter for anything post-Twilight. Seriously, give her another chance!

It’s been a slow art week for me, so you get to see a throwback mixed-media piece I did for one of my all time favorite bands, Sullivan. Their sophomore released was called Cover Your Eyes and featured some pretty intense images collaged on their cover art. It really stood out to me and along with the song “Fire Away” which had lyrics featuring the title spoke to me even more. Back in middle school I randomly stumbled upon this band, and they’ve remained one of my favorites ever since. Lead singer, Brooks Pascal has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard, and the band had some of the most intricate and big sounding songs I’ve ever listened to. I highly recommend checking out all of their work, but in the meantime, enjoy this old artwork!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve watched Criminal Minds, but Matthew Gray Gubler was always my favorite member of the BAU, and he’s just a really cool guy outside of the show. He’s also been in some fantastic indie films, and used to be a model, so it seems sort of obvious that he would be my final drawing of 2020. Enjoy!

I think it’s no big reveal that I’ve been obsessing over Arcade Fire for most of quarantine. In honor of that of course I decided to draw the whole band for the first time in almost ten years! Their album Reflector has really been my jam this past month, so I’m glad I found this to draw! Again, can’t wait for new music and hopefully the chance to see them live soon.
