Did I just choose another book that got adapted into a film? You bet. Is it going to be creepy? It better be! Does it star Elisabeth Moss? Of course. I respect horror on film and in writing, and yes, I’ve read a few Shirley Jackson works in my time, but I was drawn to this fictional novel, Shirley, because it was a more subtle thriller delivered from the perspective of an outsider looking into the Hyman/Jackson home.

Book Review: The Wife Between Us
I love thrillers, so I was glad to be reading a new one that more recently came out and already has the rights picked up by Steven Spielberg for a screen adaptation. In my mind, those are really good indicators of an excellent novel. And I was right! The Wife Between Us, co-written by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen had so many great twists and turns that I tore right through this in a week!
Read moreNine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
After reading a few of her novels, I’ve finally brought myself back around to Liane Moriarty! I got off of a short wait list to read her latest novel, Nine Perfect Strangers. And boy was it exciting! I finished it in three days, which is incredibly fast for me.

In anticipation of the Netflix release of the film of the same name sometime later this year, I decided to read the novel it’s based off of, The Devil All the Time. As far as first novels go, this one is pretty darn enticing. I breezed through this book not because it was an easy read, but because I couldn’t stop! It had me from the start, and with each graphic chapter I just found myself at the end way sooner than I imagined.

Several months back, I saw that an actor I really admire (yes, from Kick-Ass), was going to lead an adaptation of the memoir, A Million Little Pieces. When I think back to the time that the book came out, I remember I thought the cover was really cool, but memoirs aren’t really something I search out to read. I also remember a bunch of controversy surrounding the book, but I couldn’t remember why. Turns out, not all of the memoir was true.

It’s been a decent start to my reading year, but the spotlight I want to shine is on Rainbow Rowell’s young adult novels, Carry On and Wayward Son. Does this author have an affinity for that one Kansas song? I would assume so. Either way, these novels follow a world of mages from London as they try to battle the unknown and just generally survive.

I’m reaching way back in time for this one, but it was a nice find on my part. I came across Dream Boy earlier this week, and decided to give the shorter novel a read before delving into the film. Here it goes!

I do believe this is the fastest I’ve ever read a novel, so I’m as shocked as you are with how quickly this review is coming out! Especially considering I just published that book review last week! I admit it! I’m sort of a slow reader. Sort of a half hour at a time deal. I’ve just got other stuff I’d rather be doing/watching 🙂

I’ve stopped being lazy and finally read something! November was a rough month considering I rented a book from the library and let it sit in my house for three weeks untouched. So I returned that and started over! Here we go.
