It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to a convention, and since the first one I ever attended was Steel City Con in December of 2019, it only makes sense that my first one back was Steel City Con again! As eager as I’ve been to get back to everything, it’s clear a lot of other people are, too. The convention center was packed and the mood was euphoric, and that made it a really fun day for me.

Wonderstruck Music Festival
Live music continues! This time I’m back at my first festival since 2019, and it was a glorious return. Even better? The weather worked out well and the crowds were into it! I think the collective gratitude at being back at a festival made everyone friendly and just generally excited about life. Myself included.

Like I said last week, concerts are back baby! And I for one could not be more excited about it. Actually, the crowd at this show seemed inclined to agree. What better way to get fully back into the swing of concert-going then seeing emo mega-stars Hawthorne Heights for about the tenth time.

That’s right folks, with restrictions lifted and the vaccine getting distributed, that means live music is actually happening in front of people’s faces again! I, for one, could not be more happy that I can physically start going back to shows. Sure, the livestream concerts were good, but they were really just a means to an end, and ultimately just an expensive video. But that’s not the point, the point is…CONCERTS!

I really believe this is the last of the live stream concerts, and I couldn’t be more excited by that! What a great way to end this strange fad with by seeing a band really get to live out there dream? That’s right, Motionless in White front man, Chris Motionless has always wanted to perform at a cool venue like a haunted house. He got pretty close by getting to stream a show at Pennsylvania’s haunted Pennhurst Asylum.

One would have to think Twenty One Pilots were the obvious choice for this week’s fan art Friday. But in case it’s not, I’ll let you know that the band has a new album, Scaled and Icy, out today! On top of that, they are also doing a live stream performance this evening! Check back in tomorrow for a full review of the new album (sadly, I won’t be around to watch the live stream). Enjoy!

As cool as it is that anyone can vote for the MTV Movie & TV Awards, it also becomes painfully obvious that the general public just doesn’t watch much beyond Marvel’s catalog and Netflix young adult romances. That makes me sad inside, but I guess there’s got to be something for the average viewer. With that being said, let’s jump into the somewhat predictable results of the show!

It’s getting down to the wire folks! Usually, the Film Independent Spirit Awards takes place the afternoon before the Oscars, but in this unprecedented time of a pandemic, they switched their usual plan of attack by airing in a prime time slot during the week (a Thursday to be exact). Hey, I don’t care when they air, I promise I’ll be there to watch it. Normally, I would not be catching the Spirit Awards until after the fact, but this year, yours truly was a voting member, so I had to tune in!

Another month in quarantine, another concert from my living room. That’s right, a whole year has passed and there is still no sign of live music on the horizon. So in the meantime, I am trying my best to support artists I like and get some version of “live” music via livestream concerts. I will say, I was very excited when after several months, Bad Suns announced they would be playing their sophomore effort, Disappear Here in its entirety!

Ahhh! How freaking fun was this?! I know you all probably saw my recent review of the show Enlisted, and that was in fact in preparation for this very reunion. It’s been about seven years since the show went off the air, but in an effort to raise money for Harvest for Hunger, the entire cast for the episode “Prank War” reunited to do a table read.
