Since Halloween was this weekend, I tried to keep my film choices in that vain. And I would say for the most part I did that! They were creepy, gory, and at the very least mentioned the holiday.

Savannah Film Festival
The last of the film festivals (for now) ended last night with the Savannah Film Festival, and I managed to squeeze in a few more movies! I did get let down by one screening, but I suppose it was my fault. I bought a ticket for a movie that was only available in Georgia…where I do not live. Fail. Oh well, hopefully I get the chance to watch that film sooner than it is available to the mass public. So with that disappointment out of the way I got to watch two others that were very different from each other.

I know you think that I probably wouldn’t have much to watch this weekend given how many films I watched over the course of last week, but you’d be mistaken. With that being said, some are repeats and none are brand-spanking new, but that’s okay! I’ve got plenty more film festival content coming your way this week, so I’ll keep it brief to spare you. There are also a handful of season-appropriate films I watched, so check those out!

I keep scouring the web for more virtual film festivals and it’s done a great job in providing them to me! Thanks to a stranger on Twitter I found out about the Milwaukee Film Festival, which while it didn’t provide a lot of titles that caught my eye, it did crop up the gem that was I Used to Go Here. I was also equally excited to check out Apple TV+’s latest cinematic offer with Sofia Coppola’s On the Rocks. So that’s what I did last night!

The film festival magic continues, but this time with an entirely new one! Similar excellent options, although sadly some were relegated strictly to drive-in theaters. Obviously, since I do not live there I cannot attend. Sad. No worry though, because I did get to catch a film I’d had my eye one since the start of the year!

Not much good has come out of this pandemic, so imagine my surprise when something actually awesome happens?! Film Festivals all over the world have either had to cancel or postpone, but now a large handful have caught onto the streaming bug, and this works out magically for me! Usually attended by locals or strictly critics, this change of events has given me an unseen advantage. I, just a lowly film fan, gets to watch potential Oscars films ahead of the masses!

Ah, after last week’s unusual mediocrity, I have got my film viewings back up to snuff. On the lower end, but considering I did stuff with some people (say what??), the fact that I managed to squeeze these all in is quite the feat.

You may all be disappointed to know that I watched a respectable number of movies this weekend. Manageable even, for normal people! I only watched three films which made me a little sad, but the movies themselves were quite diverse and satisfying. I suppose I can’t complain all that much (and I can catch up next weekend).

Hilarious throwback film meets a slew of new releases and my weekend of movies couldn’t have been better! I mean…given the circumstances. But still! Lots of originality in what I saw and perhaps something that will make it in my top ten list at the end of the year. We shall see!
