I have had The Pink Spiders on rotation in my life since Teenage Graffiti came out, but this is the first time I’ve returned to new music from them in earnest. I know there was a bit of a rocky history as far as permanent members went beyond lead singer Matt Friction, so I’d say that’s the reason I never quite stayed current with them.

Avenged Sevenfold – Life Is but a Dream…, Album Review

Even though I’ve seen this well-regarded metal band live twice in my life, I think this is the first album of theirs that I’ve actually listened to in full. In fact, the last full length album they released was seven years ago – I didn’t even have a blog then! But Avenged Sevenfold is back with Life Is but a Dream… and I gave it my full attention with zero expectations.

Foo Fighters – But Here We Are, Album Review

Even though I just saw the Foo Fighters a few weeks ago, I couldn’t bring myself to immediately listen to their latest record, But Here We Are, coming just slightly over a year after the passing of the band’s longtime drummer, Taylor Hawkins. Then I learned that Dave Grohl’s mother passed a month after Taylor and I knew I was going to be in for a gut-punch of a record.
