I might be a little behind, but there’s new music out there, and you should be listening to it!

Two Door Cinema Club – Keep on Smiling, Album Review
First and foremost, Two Door Cinema Club will always hold a spot in my heart. As much as I love their music, their debut album always reminds me of the time my first grandparent passed away, and that album will always trigger that memory for me. With that being said, it’s still a great album, and I haven’t stopped listening to in the year since. That means I’ll always give their new stuff a chance, too!

Now that I’ve gone through Don Broco’s entire discography (in reverse order because why not), I can now officially declare that I’m obsessed with these guys. Just ask my sister. She’s sick of it already.

After listening to the three singles dropped as the lead up to the now solo act of Panic! at the Disco’s Viva Las Vengeance, I went in with really low expectations. Usually I end up pleasantly surprised, but in this case, it was exactly what I was expecting…sadly. Now that I look back at the “band’s” discography, ever since Brendon Urie took this up as a solo project, I haven’t really been a fan. It took a turn too sharp in the pop direction, and while artists are supposed to grow and change, this just became too generic and uncreative.

It’s been over a year in the making, but I will finally get to see AFI live again later this fall, but in the meantime, Jade Puget and Davey Havok’s side project, Blaqk Audio, have put out a new album and I’m here for it! It doesn’t seem like any time at all has passed since their 2020 release, Beneath the Black Palms, but that’s what a pandemic will do to time I guess. Now we’ve been treated to Trop d’Amour!

I’ve got to say I’m glad I let Don Broco’s sophomore album, Automatic, marinate for a while before reviewing it. Despite what you may think, I actually found it really pleasant to listen to the first time around, but it just felt so jarringly different from their latest two efforts that it almost didn’t feel like I was listening to Don Broco at all.

Highly Suspect is back! Not that they’ve been MIA for that long. Really, their third full-length album, MCID, only came out in 2019, but that pandemic has made that feel like a lifetime. It also doesn’t help that the band never got to fully tour on that album. All in all, that makes The Midnight Demon Club feel like a long time coming.

Since I knew I was going to be seeing My Chemical Romance, I knew I was also going to be seeing Turnstile open for them. Aside from watching their performances on late night shows from Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, I hadn’t really done any other digging into their music, but knew I wanted to. Nothing like an upcoming show to get me moving.

I mean, with a name like Get F*cked, how could the latest full length from The Chats not be amazing?
Read moreDon Broco – Technology Album Review
After my spiral into obsession with Don Broco, it only makes sense now that I work backwards on their discography. That means Technology was up next! In reading about the album and listening to a handful of interviews, I knew the sound was going to be a little more polished and lean towards pop rock. That made me a little nervous, but here are my takeaways.
