Love the reliability of network television in that I get new episodes every week. Yes, it’s nice that certain streaming services dump all of their content at once, but sometimes you never know when you’re going to see that next season (here’s looking at you, Special!). Network television reliably airs weekly in the spring and fall, with a winter break. I love it. Anyways, here’s what happened this week in drama.

I May Destroy You – Limited Series Review
I’m glad I finally got the time to watch this insanely buzzed about show, I May Destroy You. It’s sure to be snatching up a bunch of awards in the coming months, and I love a little indie show with a lot of love. Truth be told, this wasn’t my favorite, but that’s probably got more to do with the fact that it wasn’t like a typical show that I watch. Nothing can deny the talent that lives within show’s creator Michaela Coel, and she took us all on a very personal and sometimes wild ride.

With a new week this month comes the return of some more of my favorite shows! Well, the return was of Big Sky, so I guess not my favorite shows, but it’s still something.

Sadly, earlier this year, Netflix announced that part four the dark supernatural show, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, would be its last. What a freaking bummer! I was a little nervous because they had filmed parts three and four simultaneously, so I wasn’t sure if it was going to get a good ending. No one likes a cliffhanger that will never get resolved! After finishing the eight episodes the other day, I was quite pleased with what went down. I’ll try to be a non-spoilery as possible going forward, so let’s go witches!

Yay to season premieres! The start of this new year is starting to feel just a bit more normal with the premieres of shows I would typically watch at this time. It is strange though, especially given that cases are worse than ever. I suppose a vaccine helps, and for that I am thankful. Anyways, the train is still rolling on Prodigal Son, but this week also marked the return of 9-1-1 Lone Star.

It’s been a minute since this mediocre procedural, serial killing show was on the air, but now Prodigal Son is back and I watched the second season premiere with some trepidation. During the first season run I know I made my feelings clear about how I felt let down by all the potential this show had to offer. No, at this point I’m not expecting it to be the next Hannibal, but just give me something!

Fair warning here, there will be spoilers for the latest season of Cobra Kai that was just released on January 1st. I couldn’t watch this fast enough, and just like with the first season, I binged this over the course of two days. That’s a big deal! My viewing habits don’t usually involve binging the same show for more than two episodes, so that means Cobra Kai is the real deal!
Read moreA Teacher Miniseries Review
FX on Hulu’s A Teacher, is a drama adapted from a movie of the same name, but starring a few more recognizable names and the ability to flesh the story out a bit more. I think this would have to be every filmmakers dream. Getting to tell a story that you’re passionate about in two different channels has to feel good. There were also enough years separating the two that creator, Hannah Fidell, could take the time to figure out parts she wanted to explore more deeply, or add more fine details to certain scenes.

You already saw what movies rocked my socks off and which ones totally sucked, but now it’s time to talk about everything else that ruled this year (and some stuff that sucked). So get ready to see what I read, watched, and jammed to this year that’s worth your time.

Since getting HBO Max, I’ve been trying to burn through series like it’s my job. I’m also trying to stay on the up and up with what’s popular right now, and especially if that something is a mystery series. But first I wanted to revisit an older miniseries that was quite popular itself when it first came out. Let’s see what I thought about Mrs. Fletcher and The Flight Attendant!
