Concert Review: Motionless in White Deadstream 2

I really believe this is the last of the live stream concerts, and I couldn’t be more excited by that! What a great way to end this strange fad with by seeing a band really get to live out there dream? That’s right, Motionless in White front man, Chris Motionless has always wanted to perform at a cool venue like a haunted house. He got pretty close by getting to stream a show at Pennsylvania’s haunted Pennhurst Asylum.

Where the first deadstream saw the band revisit their debut album, Creatures, from front to back, this concert saw them mix up the set list from their remaining collection. As someone who is not a super-fan, I was able to appreciate this deadstream a lot more. They cycled through a lot of touring show staples, which means I was able to bee-bop along a lot more frequently. Sure, there was the occasional track here and there that I wasn’t familiar with, but these are the songs that made my sister infinitely happy. “Disguise” opened the show loud and proud, and then it bled seamlessly into mega-hit “Reincarnate.”

I imagine the band was able to surprise audiences when they played “Sinematic,” as they’ve never done so before. My sister was certainly pumped about it. Aside from the tracks I did know, I grew an immediate appreciation of the song “Catharsis” and “Soft.” Perhaps the most surprising song off the set was the bands live rendition of “Somebody Told Me” originally by The Killers. It never ceases to surprise me what other artists like listening to, and the fact that Chris Motionless finds this song endlessly catchy just cracks me up. In a good way! And honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to sound that good live, but they proved me wrong. There was also a section early where he busted out an amazingly hilarious dance move. It goes right up there with a Davey Havok move from back in the day. Brilliant.

All in all, this show went off without a hitch, and everyone in the band seemed to be killing it. More importantly, they all seemed to be having a great time! I think playing at that specific venue, fans present or not, was really special for them. Despite how good this performance was, I’m still very much looking forward to seeing them live and in person this fall! Until next time!
