Double Stuffed Movie Weekend

It fact, this may have been a Most Stuffed movie weekend! That’s right, in three short days, I watched six movies. I know what you’re thinking (she doesn’t have a life), but I just want you all to be informed! And because I watched so many, you’re going to get a lightening round recap. So here it goes:

  1. Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse – This movie will always be one of my favorites after watching it on a whim back in 2015. It has boy scouts. It has zombies. It has a Britney’s Spears song. What more could you need from this laugh-fest?! The answer is nothing. And since Halloween is this coming Thursday, it seems like a no-brainer (pun intended) that you should watch it!
  2. Can You Keep a Secret? – Not very deep, but stars two insanely good-looking people, so it seemed like something I wanted to feel light while watching. And I did! During a turbulent flight, Emma tells a complete stranger A LOT of secrets about herself. Turns out he’s no stranger, but the owner of the company she works for! Awkwardness and cuteness ensues. I’ve seen better and I’ve seen worse. Take that however you want.
  3. The Lighthouse – This movie was weird with a capital “W.” Shot in black and white and only featuring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as lighthouse keepers slowly going insane, it will have you questioning all the realities! There’s also an octopus involved along the way, so I let you watch it to find out where.
  4. Black and Blue – This tense action-drama centers on a good cop running from corrupt cops who just want her body cam (and her dead!). To make matters worse, she’s also running from a rough crowd in a down-trodden neighborhood. Frank Grillo is an absolute monster, and I love him for it. Very relevant film that will have a lot of people wondering just how fictionalized this film really is.
  5. The Current War – Stuffed to the brim with A-listers, this film is what you think it’s about – electricity. And the fight for the best kind. You’ve got Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch) trying to sell direct current, which is a short range and expensive, and you’ve got Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) gunning for alternating current, which reaches a wider span and is more affordable. Basically this film taught me that Edison was sort of a lying asshole…but powerhouse performances nonetheless.
  6. Tall Girl – Last up was this high school based, Netflix film about a tall girl that’s just trying to fit in. Being a short girl, I could not relate on a height level, but the real message to me was just stop bullying people! Seriously. How many movies do we have to make for that point to settle in? Either way, romance was also involved, so very cute.
