Love in the Air + Special Episodes

Whew! I think I might have just found a new BL series that rivals KinnPorsche. Well, in certain ways, I suppose. I still think KP is superior in its storytelling, plot, and delivery. Love in the Air was terrific, but still had some goofy qualities that I’ve come to now expect from Me Mind Y series.

This show was a bit more unique though in the way it told its story. There were four main characters and their pairing’s stories were told in two different parts. There was minimal overlap, which I am torn between liking and finding odd. I liked it because I could dedicate my full attention to the two couples at one time, but I also feel like it could have benefited from being more interwoven throughout the course of its thirteen episodes. They did end up meeting “in the middle” in the seventh episode (yes, the halfway point in the series) and in its special story episode. I know I would certainly like to see more of these couples in a second series, but I highly doubt we’ll get one. No worries though because they are each doing new series with their BL “partner” and they are coming out in the very near future, I believe!

Anyway, the story goes like this in the first half: Rain is a freshman in college intent on getting his crush to go on a date with him until he is introduced to her crush, Payu. Turns out this handsome, successful, and driven senior is the same badass motorcycle rider who helped change his flat a few days prior. He’s torn between how handsome he is and the fact that his crush likes him, so for whatever reason he makes it his mission for Payu to fall for him. Jokes on Rain though, because Payu definitely already likes him and Rain is fooling himself into thinking he doesn’t like him back. Luckily, we don’t get much runaround before they take their relationship to the next level. And I mean NEXT LEVEL. These scenes are hot, y’all. Like fanfiction hot and I may have never been happier. Their chemistry is off the charts, too.

Rivaling in the chemistry department is the other main couple of this series, Sky and Prapai. Sky is Rain’s best friend, so he too is a freshman in college, while Prapai, Pai for short, is a career man at his father’s successful company. He meets Sky the same night Rain and Payu’s interactions begin, but these two start off with a bang. Again, literally. And again, very hot. From there though, Sky makes it his mission to keep Pai away, whereas Pai is fully head over heels into Sky and makes it his mission to pursue him. I mean, from an American woman perspective, pursuing seems a whole lot like stalking and harassing, but these shows’ outcomes are known and these are just variables I am willing to look past. Ultimately, Sky wears down with Pai’s efforts and they also end up happily ever after.

Yes, this show is still ultimately a drama, so of course there is some, but the one benefit of the split storylines is that we don’t have to spend longer than one episode with it. The drama is intense and it sucks, but the resolution is nailed down by the end of the episode and we can get back to more of the good stuff, and I know you know what I’m talking about. The special episode is just more of the good stuff, so certainly take the time to check that out. I also buzzed through the two episodes of Wedding Planner that their characters make an appearance in and SPOILER, both couples are getting married here. I love it!
