MLB All-Star Concert: Twenty One Pilots

Well I for one was very excited that the MLB All-Star festivities took place in Cleveland this year. I can also tell you that is was not because I love baseball…it was because of the two free concerts! I managed to snag a pair of tickets to catch Twenty One Pilots this past Friday, so my sister and I headed up, sweated a little bit, and had a blast!

Overall the show had a very hometown feel, and that all started with the opening band, Cleveland’s own Welshly Arms. They filled the Playball Park with blues rock for a full hour before Columbus’ Twenty One Pilots took the stage. The duo even joked that they drove straight from their own houses that day to the venue. Gotta love Ohio pride! The band played all the major hits like “Stressed Out,” “Jumpsuit,” and “Car Radio” (climbing something was also involved).

The set wasn’t quite as long as any of their Bandito tour stops this past year, but they played a long time, and then the event finished up with a healthy dose of fireworks. Definitely got my money’s worth! My only complaint for the future was with the venue itself. The stage could have been a few feet higher, or the side screens could have been higher. Being a short person, I couldn’t see squat for most of the show, but I also heard that complaint from other, taller people. But really, I’m not going to complain that much about a free show for one of my favorite bands at the height of their fame. I’ll take what I can get!
